I have an opportunity to purchase 2 brush pros (10 and 15 inch) or a cimex. I have a $5000 job I am bidding on and would like to encap for safety reasons. It is a seniors residence (highrise) and I don't want them slipping or tripping over my hoses. There are 3 more bldg's they may give me if they like the work. Carpet is cgd all the way. What would use and why?

I am thinking Cimex is the way to go. Otherwise you will need someone to spray ahead you. Unless they make tanks for the brush pros.

Just my thoughts

Cimex rocks on CGD. We mowed through 20k Saturday running 7 Cimex machines.

The CRB'S are spec for some commercial carpet. They can also be used in residential where the Cimex should not be. However if CRB is not mandatory then I choose the Cimex every time.

Encapping well relies more on weight than anything else.

Cimex

But get the 10" too.
I'll really have to think about it. Moneys a little tight right now but I can pick up the 2 brush pros for $2000.00 and the cimex for the same price. I know it's a great deal but 4 grand for everything is a little much. Sounds like I should buy the cimex, book in this job quickly and use the profit to buy the brush pros

Rent them both from him and decide which will help you the most. He won't be out anything with the potential to sell either or possibly both.
Actually I'm going to have access to the cimex for a week. (2-different sellers) I think it only has brushes on it so I'll have to order drivers and pads. Any advice on solutions? One of my suppliers is suggesting Procyon Extreme but I am leaning to a proper encap solution. The guy with the brush pros isn't as free with his equipment, (can't blame him) but I'm looking at maybe borrowing on my loc to maybe do all. I'm going to have to hire someone one of these days, got more equipment than a one horse operator needs in his lifetime and I'm still buying more. Anybody want to buy a rebuilt Steam Valet with a 7-14 flow? Anybody even know what that is?

If you're cleaning a lot of CGD carpet, the Cimex will munch right through it!
Hello Rick, I don't know if it is feasible to order from you with the difference in our currencies and customs fees. We do have a cimex distributor in Ontario apparently but any advice you have on pads and juice would be appreciated and if it makes economic sense, I would definitely buy from you.

How long did 20k take using the Cimexs? (hours)

3 hours

It was a mix of office cubes and open areas. Two locations for the same entity. 4 machines at the largest facility. 3 buildings at the other.

I haven't had an opportunity to use a CRB, but I have used other variations of machinery to encap. Cimex with a variety of pads and brushes, rotary scrubber both pre-spray and shampoo tank delivery with a pads, bonnets, brushes, an orbot with a variety of pads etc. There are pro's and con's to each system. In terms of cleaning power, the cimex with shampoo tank delivery of product delivers the best cleaning results, but it's not always the quickest or best solution, and will not always leave the carpet the driest. Pads tend to deliver the best shear, brushes tend to distribute product best product distribution, bonnets recover soil. Spraying gives better control of moisture, shampoo tank delivery is a hell of a lot quicker. Rotary's will smack a cimex around in terms of productivity time if you have desks and tight areas, but won't give the same uniformity or clean. An orbot delivers very uniform cleaning, more maneourvable than a cimex, but not nearly as quick as a rotary. I suspect a CRB would deliver better cleaning over the verticality (is that a word) of the pile, and lift/recover deep embedded dry soils. But how many commercial carpets have that much in the way of pile? Not too many where I am located.

Hi Ron,

Contact Lorne, 866-987-1333. He handles Releasit distribution across Canada.
He'll be happy to get you set up with the best encap products north of the border. :)

picked up the Cimex today. Didn't realize it was the 24 inch model, thing is a beast. It is also an older model with the smaller wheels which makes it a pain to move around and it will not go up stairs unless you have 2 people and the solution trigger is broken. Still works but will have to be replaced. Comes with floor and hard surface brushes plus drive blocks with old Velcro attached for pad use. Velcro looks like it needs to replaced. Tried it out today on an apartment lobby and hallway which is level loop over pad. Used Procyon Extreme and it came out pretty good. Stopped and had a couple of beer with the bldg. mgr. for about an hour and when I checked, the carpet was already dry to the touch. Some of the more troublesome spots had disappeared, I'll check tomorrow to see if they stay gone. The machine is large and cumbersome but very easy to use and fast. Won't get into corners but edges quite well. I am going to order some pads and some Releasit and see how that works. The guy wants $2000.00 and I'm thinking maybe $1000.00. Any opinions on the size and the price?

Sheeeeet that's big and old. Start with $800.00.and see if he counters with $1,000.00

That dude will kill in open areas but it's going to be too big in some instances.
