In the interest of having the floor dry in hours and not days, I am looking at a Nautilus MX3-1200 for a porty

The Jury is still out on a TM (thought I had a clue, then someone brought Judson to my attention)

I'm sure the weakest TM would still blow away this porty but I can't afford both and it seems that no matter what, I'm going to need a porty.

After reading everyone else's horror stories though, there is something to be said for not having to dump in a toilet, ask where the breaker panel is or run off of cold water; not to mention lugging around a 160 lb. extractor.

Maybe I could just go cheeeeep on both setups and tinker on them over the winter, then kick some serious butt in the spring.

Decisions, decisions...
You're thinking too deep into this business. The Judson guys are gonna get pissed at me, but if you want something dummy proof and safe with no second fuel or extra cords to plug in, get a prochem legend. It's affordable, simple, easy to get advice for minor maintenance and repair, and big enough to help your business grow.

Keep in mind, I've never used a fuel heated truck mount. The reason is, because I've never needed one.

What's your next step on your business plan? Have you finished putting one together?

You are going to wish you had a truck mount.
Finance the portable if you have to have one...a good portable and a crb financed together about 300 a month. You will pay it off early.
The Nautilus is wide and heavy...think about going up and down stairs and loading and un loading into your truck/van over and over again.

Yep... amazing what a good dinner conversation with the Mrs. brings. Going to look at vans right now. Thinking the main machine of the biz is going to have to be a TM. We would rather turn down a few jobs because I can't lock the doors than be turned down by many for being unprofessional in appearance.
Not shooting for the Chinese restaurant market, looking to get into commercial and residential, possibly places like clinics and such ... at least someday. In the meantime I'll learn on whatever I can.

Are you a member of a credit union yet? If not, go find one and sign up. You'll get better chances of borrowing money if and when you need it

Whaaaat? Having a porty makes one look unprofessional...? Im hurt. :(
Not at all. I knew I would regret that comment!
I think the idea of flipping breakers (and having to find the panel) would be a pain for both me and the customer. Maybe the portable wouldn't trip the breaker but you add on a heat/vac booster and who knows, it could trigger a paradox that could set off a chain reaction that could unravel the very fabric of our universe!
In short, I just wanna get in, get out and leave with the best overall impression on my customer.

No decision. Get a TM, be professional, learn how to be likeable and market yourself, come to Redding and do a ride along with me.

Sounds like you made up your mind. I'm like you. When I learn something, you can bet I learned it the hard way.

 I am just not in position to buy TM...not for a while. Portable was the best option for me, and still a great option. Thats why I bought a good porty and tm3. I have reflected on this for long time and weighed all the pros and cons. I just do what I need(have) to do even the only way to start is the hard way. One thing I will say for myself, at least i am doing it right, and professionally.

Do you have a tattoo on your neck? Do you wear gold chains? Are your teeth gold plated with encrusted diamonds? I'm just trying to gauge how hard this is going to be to help you.

Honestly, last month my van broke down and I was forced to load all my portable equipment in my other van and pound out jobs. It was hell. I would rather go out of business than revert back to porty power. I have much respect for the guys doing it that way. It's a hard life. I don't know how I did it when I first started. I was desperate, hungry, and determined. I remember introducing myself for the first time to Ivan aka See Spots Run. Ivan and his wife Rusty looked at me like I was some sort of hack. I was so proud but they thought I was a joke.

@TConway , How do I tag Ivan? I don't know his MB name.

Trying gauge if i am humble?... Humble enough to go learn from and work with Mikey. Ask mikey what he think of me so far if you need a guage..

No neck tatoo, gold chain, gold teeth...just trying to make a better living for my wife and son

Not sure if I should just start a new thread or not, this one is becoming an epic and I've never even picked up a wand.
Working on our business plan and I wonder, in an area with 4 seasons, how do the pros find enough work to keep themselves and their help busy enough to survive the slow (winter) months? Diversification is good, maybe I need to retrofit plows to the front of my van/s.

You ain't plowing with a van in your price range!

I would get a Prochem Legend used(well, personally I would not, but better then a porty), lots of them out there(they had the same idea as you).. You should really go push a wand, and see if it's what you want to do! It is easy to sit here and plan, but YOU are going to have to clean for a long while also, or it isn't going to work..

I never had a business plan, and never got a loan from the bank(besides vehicle), and I wasn't given a thing.. I do like no interest Credit Cards though..

Thanks Keith, straight cash homie! I don't do the credit card game anymore, I'm also not going to finance a truck. You are right though, looking for a local guy that will let me help out.

Might be right.. What do I need a screwdriver? If so, is it the flat one, or the one that looks like a plus sign?
