So every once in awhile my Apex spews water through the exhaust and dumps this nasty soot stain on the ground which I end up pressure washing away. Anyone know what causes this & how to prevent it? Thx....

quit over filling your waste tank.

Too much foam in your waste tank being sucked through the blower. Water level shut off won't necessarily turn off your unit if it's foam rising and not water level.

I'd say with experience, you should be able to tell (while wanding) if the extracted moisture is really foamy.

Just drop a spoonful of defoamer in your tank or vac hose every couple hundred feet on jobs like that.

Or just as a general rule, before you start extracting on every job.

It would also be a good idea for your blower's sake to spray lube after an overflow job like that.

Ok ty - I add defoamer before each job, (mixed with water in a spray bottle) I let the vacuum port draw it in, then hook up the vacuum hose to the machine. (Perhaps a bit more defoamer in my water bottle) & I do use WD40 after each job just prior to shutdown. This only happens once or twice a year. Thanks for tips!

Seek out chems that have little to no foam. Doesn't mean you have to go the procyon route but shop around for the prespray and emulsifier that doesn't foam up.

And yeah you over fill your waste tank.

Crystal defoamer and sprinkle some around throughout the job... Liquid defoamer is something I never liked...

I’m using Flex Powder w/citrus, mixed 4 scoops in the hydro force with the yellow metering valve removed. Like you suggested (Replaced the float switch a couple years ago.) Prochem liquid Defoamer....Rince is Prochem All Fiber Deep Clean rinse....

The house is a divorce situation, no vacuuming, no professional cleanings. I’ve only done 2 bedrooms upstairs & a set of stairs. The debris is from each room after vacuuming. They had a dog that lived in the dirt outside but came in at night too sleep.

There’s your problem. It needs to be at the end of each DAY not job. And are you shutting it down right after the wd40 spray or are you letting it burn the wd40 out for 2min under full load at full throttle? If you’re not burning the wd40 out, you’re just causing what you see on the driveway, and after a period of time, you’ll be losing suction because your blower’s insides will have a film buildup around them and won’t push as much air through it

I only do 1 job a day (Dr’s Orders - after a head on collision- bad back) - so I spray it after it cools at idle, so your saying spray at full throttle at the end of the day? Makes sense I can do that....ty

WD last job every Friday is more then enough.. I rarely use any! If you have any TM sit over the winter give it a good shot and leave your lid on your waste tank off. With how dark the water was coming out of your blower, it might actually have been a good thing! WD40 is suggested to prevent rust, not to "lube" anything..

WD40 will build up on the lobes and if you don't remove it, it will mess up your blower faster then not doing anything at all.. As long as you don't over flow the tank(AND let it sit) the moisture will evaporate because of the heat of the blower.. If you do over flow your tank let it run for a good 15min(full speed) if it's your last job of the day.. Other then the last job of the day, just go to the next one and the moisture will evaporate.

Flushing out your blower twice a year isn't a bad thing either(especially if you are using WD).. YOUR BLOWER ISN'T A WATER PUMP so you just let a little water in at a time straight into your blower hose from your waste tank..

I change the Spark Plugs (NGK gapped every 400 hrs), along with the fuel filter, pump oil, & blower oil, synthetic oil & filter every 100 hrs on the Kubota. One thing I do need is a high altitude jetting kit, this carb has a pilot jet that is too big for up here. I live at 4,500 above sea level but work up as high as 8000 ft above - runs like shit up there, just a dog....it’s on my list.....

Could be carbon build up on the HX'ers.. You should pull them out and clean them once a year with a good degreaser, let them soak in a bucket rinse,and repeat..

Engine oil every 100 hours is great, I do the same.. IMO you are wasting a LOT of time and money changing the other two at that interval.. If you add up the amount of money just the oil in your blower and water pump costs you, you could buy new ones every 2-3 years without lifting a finger during that time.

I use both crystal and liquid defoamer and I agree that crystal is more effective. I have found that liquid works better if you put it in a misting bottle and periodically spray in your vac hose rather than pouring it in your tank.

Oh? My shop said “Every 400?” (On the blower oil & pump oil) It’s ok - I’m 53 in Dec just wanna keep this rig going until I retire....

Wow! The blower and pump doesn't USE oil, it's just to lube.. Engine is the most important!! Call me when you get out, I might be interested in your Apex.. Can I get first dibs? Just keep doing what you're doing..
