I just completed a highly scientific study where my ear measured the difference between:

The 12" Devastator with no whip (2"-1.5" cuff only)

and

The Wand with the tapered whip.

It was immediately clear the direct to 2" version made lots more noise... probably 25-30% more. I even had my son listen to both without looking to make it even more scientific. He picked the 2" instantly each time as far as loudness.

That's all.

No kidding. Nobody is saying that the whip is giving you more airflow. Just makes the wand easier to use. To quote the pig farmer, "Idiots".

I was doing a job in a gated community last week, and down the street from my client was a competitor already working. As I drove by, I noticed he/she was running 1 1/2” all the way from the van.... WTF?
Do people not know about FLOW?

That’s where you get the “the last carpet cleaner made my carpet wet for days” hacks.

All foolish theories.

Both my 650 and the 370 are producing beautiful results with ultra high performance wands and whips that idiot know-it-alls like Larry could only dream of.

On occasion that flexible 2 inch whip hose will develop a split so I just try and cut out that section. Much easier to use than that rigid vac hose

I've always said, "A whip hose is the perfect way to turn your 48 blower into a 36 or a 45 in to a 33."
The whole point of the design of the 1.5 devastator was to help negate the effects of using a whip hose in the first place. Using the properly sized whip with this wand will give you better performance than any other 1.5 inch wand. Not designed to be better than 2 inch wands. It's for people that like 1.5 inch tools but want better performance. If you like clumsy 2 inch wands and hose and dont mind knocking pictures off the walls, don't bother reading this thread.

Here in the wonderful U.S. of A. we enjoy maximum performance whenever possible and dadgum near total freedom guaranteed by the gosh darnned constitution!

Bull in a china shop?...
Knock on wood, I’ve never knocked over anything in someone’s home. Came close a few times....
One was in a home of a retired surgeon.
In their basement, they had this very old bottle, put on a custom built shrine of sorts....
I was cleaning, moved my hose behind me, and heard and felt a bump with my elbow....
When I turned around, the bottle was doing the weeble-wobble, and settled back down....
After finishing the job, I inquired about it, to which the wife told me that her husband was the personal physician to some sultan in the Middle East.
As a thankyou present, the sultan gave him this bottle of liquor, and was reputed to be 300 years old....
When I asked her how much was it worth, her reply was ‘priceless ‘...
BTW, I was still using a whip hose, and constantly fighting the 1.5 to 2” cuff around furniture etc....
Coincidence? I think not...

I dont get whats clumsy about 2" amflex hose
It's very difficult to source thin wall vac hose here. We have to order it from the US. Using a stiff vac hose on a 2 inch wand will kill your back. I have a couple of flexible 2 inch whips but mostly, I use 1.5. I have knocked pics off a wall with 2 inch.

yep I had to order from him who can't be mentioned and get shipped, was cheaper to order 1/2 pallet of chems and hose from USA than just buy heavy OEM hose locally :dejection:
