I'm trying to decide on which security cameras to install in my shop. I need it to work with Amazon Alexa and be able to view remotely from my cell phone. I'm leaning toward an Arlo system. Any suggestions?

Damon, Why do they need to connect to Amazon Alexa? From what I have seen, most cameras systems connect to a smart phone or tablet. I have a 5 year old system at my home that connects quite easily to my smart phone. If I remember correctly, it was about $250 or so for an 8 camera system. It's a local DVR that connects through the internet and there are no monthly costs. I think it holds about 2 months worth of data.

We use night owl got 4 hard wired cameras and two wireless for like $350 on sale.
No plans records constant or motion only.

Has amazing details in the dark. Even tho our shop doors are closed and it’s dark you can record everything.

Has 1-2TB of storage (can’t recall which) and also has remote access so I can check from a computer or right from the IOS application on my cell.

Cool feature also you can speak through the cameras and they also have audio.

I decided to give this a try. It’s a knockoff of Arlo and way cheaper. They have decent reviews. I ordered 3. If they work good I’ll get a few more. I like that they are completely wireless and have two way speakers so I can yell at kids to get off my lawn.

Wireless Rechargeable Battery Powered WiFi Camera, Home Security Camera, Night Vision, Indoor/Outdoor, 1080P Video with Motion Detection, 2-Way Audio, Waterproof, compatible with Cloud Storage/SD Slot Amazon product

Just need enough to cover the two man-doors, 5 rollup doors, and maybe 2 inside the shop.

You won't see much detail with 1080p. We were looking at 4k cameras to replace the 780p or I or whatever it is. Been having issues with WiFi though so wanted to get hard wired to a box that records about 3 days worth because the 4k uses so much data. Then could have motion sensor send it to phone.
Decided it isn't worth it. Guns are cheaper and more reliable.
Just put up dummy cameras. Besides they can hack your cameras through your WiFi if they want. Should get a battery back up too if you lose power occasionally.

Just not worth the hassle to me. Im insured.

Cameras don't do much of anything to stop thieves. Watching someone steal stuff from me just makes me more angry.
The camera will send me a text when the motion sensor goes off. I also have an alarm system but I’m more interested about seeing kids on my lawn and yelling at them. I also want a camera on a thermometer so I can monitor the temperature inside the shop.

Just for giggles For Valentines Day I’m sending my wife a dozen multi colored roses to her work. I signed the card “From your secret admirer”. We’ll see if she says something to me. Lol.

I gave up on the Alexa thing after researching it. Not a biggie.

The update on that...
I am going to all 20 branch locations to measure and prepare a proposal at their requirement I just found out a couple days ago. I just finished their online webinar training to submit invoices on their software. I sure hope this account goes through or this is gonna be a big waste of my time and money

Man. I wouldn’t sit through a training by a company just to clean their floors. Good for you for doing it.

You win some you lose some. Just gotta make sure you win more than you lose though!

If you do get it just don’t let your regular stuff suffer if it’s a large account. Not fun or wise putting all our eggs in one basket.

Some of those bigger ones are good gotchas if not handled well

Yeah, it was 2hrs of wasting my time with it this morning. I just keep reminding myself that this is only one time of jumping through these hoops.

any company with half a brain would do that
YOU should be thankful too ...'cause you'd been a mo-ron to roll down there blind with no agreement of pricing or work scope
