I just heard from the dealer. Looks like I got a cracked oil cooler line causing my oil to leak out. I am guessing the monkey's at the oil change place snapped it. Also my transmission looks like it has some issue where it isn't changing gears at the right times causing the check engine light to come on. So far the bill is up to $1300. They guy said that it might need a new transmission. I'm hopeful that isn't the problem. It drives fine.

To be continued.

We’ll find out.

All I can say is I’m thankful i have a second van and a rug shop right now. Got more rugs coming in tomorrow.
I’m racing to get my second van reliable. My box truck just went over 200k a few weeks ago and it needs some TLC preventative maintenance but can’t be down until I get my second van reliable enough to run solid

Ugh. I don’t even want to talk about what I’m dealing with. Working with Chrysler to try and get them to warranty my tranny. The work is done and I’m ready to take it home. The bill is about $5,500. My wife and I are having lunch waiting to hear if they will cover it.

There is a story behind all this. I’m just too lazy to type it all out right now. But I could use some good thoughts.

That's why. Unless there's some history to demonstrate the oil lines are prone to random cracking, Promaster has no obligation to fix it on their dime.

There is hope though, I've twice had a shop pay for damage caused by their tech.

Turned out to be a cracked oil filter housing. They replaced it. $700 for that fix. It was the guys at the oil change place that wrenched it down causing it to crack. From now on I’m the only one that will be changing the oil in my cars.

Oh the stories I’ve heard of.. I’ve even got friends friend’s who worked at Jiffy Lube and the sorts, had no business working on cars.. They could Fook up making a microwave meal..

Others have worked at BMW and Porsche, forget to tighten lug nuts on multiple cars, forget to tighten head bolts..

I do what I can, and I got friends who can do what I can’t.. It’s hard to trust a lube tech making $12.00 to perform basic needs..

My .02cents..

Ok. I’m sitting in church so i can now explain the warranty issue.

The transmission gear light came on at about 58k miles. I immediately called Redding Dodge and made an appointment to bring it in. Due to covid the soonest they could get me in was two months later. They tell me if the light is not blinking its okay to drive the van.

So I waited for my appointment date. When I arrived the service guy tells me he has no Morpar/Dodge certified techs that can work on my van and they can’t even get parts. He said one guy quit and the other tech is in the hospital on a ventilator. He said its a 5 year process to be Morpar certified and they are hurting bad right now. There was nothing he could do for me. Gee thanks for making me wait 2 months!

I immediately got on the phone and booked an appointment for three weeks later at Red Bluff Dodge. Once they looked into my Transmission light issue they informed me that I needed to replace the tranny. They said there was clutch silt in the fluid and it was just a matter of time before it failed completely. A new transmission was $6k or to have mine rebuilt was about $5500. Here’s the kicker, they can’t get new transmissions right now but they did have a rebuild kit in stock.

So here is where the warranty issue popped in its ugly head. The warranty on the tranny is good for 60k miles. Because the odometer had 61800 miles on it when i brought it in they rejected me. I was pissed. I explained to them I tried to bring in the van into Redding Dodge almost three months ago and it was under 60k when I tried to get it in. I then called Chrysler Customer Care and filed a claim. After going back and forth and having the threaten to get an attorney involved, they agreed to pay the $2300 in parts and I would pay the $3200 in labor. Feeling lucky and wanting my van back, I accepted the offer.

I’m wishing now I paid the $1900 for that extended warranty. Glad to have this behind me.

You do realize that you are not required to use dealership or place you bought it from to get any warranty repairs?
