It's long been thought that the IICRC should offer/facilitate the training of niche services.

For our southern members;
a specialized segment of the market for a particular kind of product or service.
"he believes he has found a niche in the market"

I can tell you based on responses to our Multi Surface Course, "Carpet Cleaners" are starving for hands on training of additional services that they can offer to their adoring fan base. With the cost of everything skyrocketing, the smart owner op or business owners wants to keep their vans and crews parked at one location as long as possible.

  • easy carpet repairs
  • grout/caulking repair
  • on location rug cleaning
  • granite chip/travertine hole repair
  • fine fabric cleaning (JP style)
  • modern pet stain and deo issues
  • spot and stain removal
  • equipment maintenance/choices
  • VLM for residential
  • flooring ID
  • easy stone resurfacing (DIPs)
  • complex stone resurfacing
  • countertop maintenance/reconditioning
  • wood and wood look-A-like cleaning
  • marketing
  • sales

Theses are most of the subjects I see popping up over and over from the new wave of cleaners, what am I missing?

How would you make these into two day courses?

Could you get what you need from a marketing course into two days? What group could you put together that would agree on best practices?

Could you stretch chip repair...?

I was being generous, the real marketing class for owner operators can be done in about 39 minutes

Have the teacher, preferably a 45-year-old woman who's raising a family and lives in a higher-end home evaluate the student.
If they pass muster as somebody they would allow in their home unsupervised and around their teenage daughter then their bank account is inspected in hopes to at least 5 years of money to live off of, or he has a wife that can support him while natural selection takes place and either he makes it or he doesnt.

And then 10 minutes is spent on showing them how to create a Facebook account and join all the neighborhood blogs.

I think a business organization class would be smart where you could teach basic finances and how to use CRM software and invoicing ect
That's a smart response, but history tells us that no will show up to a stand-alone business class. Check out the SBA for a lot of good info. SBA score program

I guess they do work business education into Strategies for Success courses.

It's pretty fun to see a person with multiple trucks realize they're working their butts off and headed out of business. They tend to pay more attention to the class once that bulb is lit.

The reason I suggest this is I had to figure everything out myself and it would Have saved me years if I would have had someone show me how to schedule invoice organize work ect.

I now know what I need to do now it’s applying it

Yeah but years ago before you knew it all, would you have signed up for a class like that? Or would you have tried to figure it out on your own?

I would of wanted to focus on carpet cleaning tools or ways to do it better then I would mature and realize running a good carpet cleaning company has little to do with carpet cleaning
