Can you design the perfect truckmount?

The van:

Mercedes Sprinter. Mainly because if looks half decent compared to all the other ugly ass vans.

Truckmount: I love the Kubota engine with a single wand setup (liquid cooled is a must), a water pump capable to be set at 3000 rpm for a quick pw on the concrete jobs. I love the Titan's heat exchanger setup, so that can stay. The 47 or 4.7 (whatever has the best combination of lift and cfm) is perfect for building heat and suction.

The waste tank needs a minimum 2" drain port. My 1.5" is too slow, and can get clogged if I get behind on cleaning out my tank, or if the job is just too nasty. And the bigger the waste tank basket is, the better. Since I don't use an APO and I have a 10flow setup on my wand, I feel that we need 125 gallon tanks also. I'm thinking the basket should be the same size as a 5gallon bucket. (The whole inline filter idea is stupid. The paint filter in those things gets clogged up too fast, and you lose cfm within the first hour of cleaning, even after you vacuum the carpet. ) I clean some nasty rentals, and I Vacuum the carpet really good. All 3 of my inline filters that I've used in the past have failed due to clogging up too fast. My basket filter requires the least amount of cleaning to maintain maximum suction.

Hose reels: I want a setup for the single guy setups to have a remote roll up hose reel that can roll up the hose while we're backing up closer to the van during the job. It'll make setup and breakdown so much easier. That'll mean that it has to have live hose reels, so the blower will need to be able to handle 15hg on 300-350 of vac hose reels. That would be so nice to just push a button as you walk backwards while cleaning carpet.
Your helper should be pulling hoses back to the van and staging them for an easy roll.

With a remote what about the solution line and keeping the reel straight.

Isn’t there attachments on some reels that guide hoses from side to side?

The vacuum loss is huge on live reel.

Then a 5.9 blower might be needed. I've never used a live vac reel. All I know is, I hate rolling up my hoses.[/QUOTE]

I was going to hook it up to a 90hp VW TDI I had and then I got busy so I just bought 2 CDSs instead.

20 HP honda motor powering a 45 blower and general pump, 40 gallon waste tank with an apo that never fails, one of Bob Savages propane heaters with a properly installed belly tank. Installed in a mini van that has yet to be built. 1 ton chassis with a fuel efficient 4 cylinder engine, not taller than 6' 4" with a long wheel base. Imagine an extended Chevy Astro van. My perfect city carpet cleaner.
This setup in one of these. Or a TCS Chief would work.

Aerotech already built the perfect truckmount. while you are taking time to pick a truck, slide in, reels, and all the associated stuff, you can be running an Aerotech for $1200 a month.

Update:

I'm surprised how much better the suction on my Everest's blower compared to my Titan's setup. So stick with the kubota motor 3 or 4 cylinder, bump up the size of the blower, I like the trouble free heat exchange system with the manual handle. And the filter box next to the truck mount is really nice. I really like how the filter is designed with the bigger holes to catch just the bigger particles so it doesn't fill up as fast. That gives me more steady, strong suction throughout the job.

Oil changes need to be easier without any wrenches, so hand valves need to be put on all hoses with oil in them. And the frame needs to be designed so a tray can slide under the filter to catch the oil when it's taken off.

We need to see a RPM gauge and a temp. gauge of the engine on these truck mounts. Just trusting these manufacturers that they have everything set right, doesn't make me feel any more comfortable. If it's on the vans of these direct drives...it needs to be on these slide ins as well. No excuses!

Some of these truckmounts don't have a cold water option to clean wool and blood spots, and that should always be an option also. I found a way to get cold water on my Everest 650, but I don't see it on the new 870 or the old 870. Why? The smaller truckmounts have it, so the big boys should get it also. Maybe an idea for the 2021 models.

I love this waste tank setup. It plays a major role in the quality of our machines, so I feel it's just as important as the truckmount itself. The baffles are heavy duty, the lid is smaller so it has less of a flex when under load, and the blower filter is in a great spot so less debris gets over to it. And I love how the basket is outside the tank, similar to the Butler and white magic tanks have. The intake hose goes in to the wall of the tank, not the lid and they go straight in and straight out with no angles.

And back to the manual arm on the exhaust heat exchange...I've seen the hydraulic arm fail on older titans (my friend's 2012), which made me a little paranoid about mine, and I've seen complaints about the bimba in the past on sapphires. I've heard no complaints about prochem's manual adjustment on their older truckmounts and Everest 650. So why change? I think it needs to be put back on the new 870.

Just my thoughts.

I think aerotech is already the perfect TM, just maybe if they offered a slightly smaller blower version for those that dont dual wand often
