I think one of the bearings on my driveshaft of my butler system is going bad..it still spins but it makes a grinding sound. Anyone have any idea if the bearings are replaceable?
Try taking the belts off the blower and cat pump first. See if the grinding remains. If no grind add the blower belts... If no grind... Add the cat pump.... Or do opposite each unit first and such to eliminate if one of these parts also making noise

I will try that. What if the grind remains even if I dont have the blower or cat pump belts on?

Then you might need a drive shaft.

Butler can help you with other test info.

It takes about two hours to mount a new drive shaft

Take out the front drivers seat.

Need to pull the engine shroud

Pull the breather box.

Remove rear pulley with pulley puller

I did clutch and drive shaft once

That's an overview but not bad to do

An over ten year old unit probably due for some TLC, after all it outlasted the GM running gear.

That's true, I'm just intimidated by the work it will take if I have to replace the driveshaft mainly because I still cant really walk too well. I've been paying my brothers to do all the carpet cleaning for me while I recover but I do go along when I can

Give me a call if you are interested in rebuilding it yourself. The bearings cost less than $100, and the clutch is $150ish. I don’t recall the part numbers but the parts are very easy to get. It took me 3 hours to remove, rebuild, and reinstall. 907-350-0999

Ok I will as soon as I run some tests and confirm I have to rebuild it. Thank you!

Called Butler and they said I should remove the 2 belts in the engine bay and spin it and see if the clutch is making the grinding sound. The cost for a new clutch is 170$ and the cost for a driveshaft is 1000$ but if I send the old one back I get 400$ core charge

So I get the driveshaft installed and go to put on the new belts and among the endless other things the previous owner screwed up on the tensioner for the belts is sheared off and now I don't know how I'm supposed to get the new belts on.
