We usually order chems by the pallet. I’m doing so, we save on not only shipping, but get a bulk discount aswell.
Anybody else believe in this school of thought?

(on average, we save 300-400$ doing it this way)

I believe this is smart business....

Well worthwhile Jeff. We buy some in enough quantity to get a distributors discounted rate which is about 40% off normal price. It also makes sense at the moment with the logistics hassles.

No, I buy big stuff like truckmounts. I’ve got my second van/tm coming in next month as a backup and hopefully a part time route for a tech if I know how to be a good employer.

I was ordering about a years worth of chem from the US at a time..

the last 4 years something changed
And were you saving money Dan? I’m sure ordering overseas was expensive... BUT, I’d bet anything, if you ordered some piddley little order, you’d not saved a dime...
By ordering bulk, it saves money AND time....
Not making a trip to the shippers, and saving on large orders...

I have the shipping company drop ship to my shop...
All I got to do, is open the overhead door, and they fork lift it to the front of the chem shelf....
Easy as pie, and I save $$!...

Real freedom is getting that mortgage paid off

paid mine off in under 4 years back in 1998 and been debt free ever since

I always buy enough chemical and supplies to get free shipping and volume discount from Pembertons

I had a meeting with my financial advisor yesterday.

There are many things I plan on changing over the next 5-10 years....
And yes, investing in quality stock was discussed in detail...

It was cheaper for my main presprays than buying local, our NZD took a hiding vs USD and wasn't as an attractive option for quantities I was ordering

that may change under new admin, time will tell

The costs are often immaterial when compared to finding something that performs better. When we started encapping I bought in chemical and pads from Rick in Florida, and my first machine from UK airfreight. After initial experimentation that soon paid its way and we now operate 4 Cimex. If I had another couple they would be well utilised also over our busy periods.
Same with my first high heat t/m - bought in from USA and landed a high revenue job just after it arrived that paid the cost of that machine.
The hardest part of the exercise was wading through on-line bs and, hard as it is to admit, some advice from Rev Ladwig on the old red board saved me a poultice of spondulas.

Since we're talking about saving money buying bulk...who offers the lowest price buying Ultrapak Extreme on a pallet?

I hate storing it, whether wax, cleaning chemicals, whatever. I did buy up all the disinfecting chems I could get my hands on, and I’m loaded for the decade. Chem prices are irrelevant for the most part. I do but toilet paper for me in bulk!

Buying in bulk can be smart if you have a climate controlled storage space and if your usage turns it over in six months for chemicals and/or packaging with shorter shelf life like peroxides, reducing agents, etc. I have heard of someone buying a pallet of peroxide product. After 18 months the peroxide develops a noticeable sour smell. It happens to all peroxides and the greater the concentration, the worse the smell. In hot storage it will happen faster. We had someone buy a pallet of Citrus Solv. After a couple of years he was picking up a plastic bottle which broke in his hands. D'limonene starts impacting the bottles from the day it is poured off. Your basic pre-sprays would be good for a year and powders for at least two years.

I always paid my mortgages off as soon as I could also but couldn't believe the mortgage rate my daughter received the other day.
At 2.875 there may be better places to park that extra money?
