I was the guilty party when we last moved....or so I'm told.

Everybody should have to move all their "stuff" every five years or so.

If it's available in your area consider renting PODS. A storage unit similar to a cube truck box, picked up and moved in a manner similar to a dumpster.

We moved 4 months after my neck surgery. Lora was amazing too. She boxed up the whole house over those 4 months then we hired movers. No way could I have lifted anything. Money well spent. I was always the guy everyone called to help move so it was a huge blessing to watch other people move everything and set it into place. If we move again all the furniture gets sold with the house

We just moved into a new home last month. There's no getting around it, packing and unpacking is a pain, but it gives an opportunity to purge junk we've accumulated. We've moved a few times and have developed a system that works for us. We (mostly Nancy) box up all the box-able stuff. We load all the boxes into a box truck (no pun intended). We also load a few of the smaller furniture pieces. It takes a couple of trips with the truck loaded with boxes. Then we hired a mover to move roughly a dozen pieces of larger furniture. I like doing it this way. Let the pros bust their backs moving the heavy stuff; I don't want the stress of it. And we pack and unpack the small stuff. This approach to moving is cheap and simple. It cost us $180 to have the movers cart our furniture 8 miles to our new house. Now we're in our new house, some kitchen remodeling and interior painting's been completed, and we're all unpacked and happy! I'm sure your move will go smooth too Mike. Moving always seems worse on the front end looking forward. This too shall pass. ;)

P.S. Where are you heading? Staying near Aptos / Santa Cruz I assume?
