tried the GG M-5 with 150 ft. of hose today

just had 4 big commercial mats and I wanted to experiment

it was "o.k."

pressure was fine,,suction was adequate,,,,,,,,,but not screamin like 50 ft.

certainly acceptable performance for a portable though IMO

add a booster and I think a guy could go 200 ft.

but personally I like to get max performance and wheel it to the door or just inside it cuz it's freakin cold up here in the winter and people appreciate having their door closed

nice porty Greenie

love it

I kinda mistyped here

It's quite adequate at 150,,,,,,,,most guys would probably run it at that

I also tested it without the pumpout on,,,,,,,so with an empty waste tank it'd be fine

just the wand wouldn't be screaming like it does @ 50 ft.

I'd say 125 ft. would be the sweetspot IMO

I'm trying to say it's more than i expected out of a porty,,,,,if someone told me I could get this kind of performance before I received it,,,,,,,,,I'd of thought they were FOS

I would stick to 50-75 or your dry times are out to lunch.

Why would you even say something like that when you do not have that machine?

Ignorance does not make you look look smarter. :)

But it doesn't climb upstairs by itself.

Different machines will perform best at different distances from the machine.

Greenie's machine has the vacs in parallel.
That favors short to medium vac hose lengths due to less lift.

Machines with vacs in series will perform best at those 100 to 150 feet runs.
They have more lift to compensate for hose losses.

With all the new vac motors starting to be used...
the curves for multiple vacs in parallel & series require some study.

Hi Larry,

That's a good point. These motors are not off the shelf, yet. The vac motor company winds the motor and uses special fans for Mytee so we can get the performance. They are 600 air watts, 148" water lift and 115 CFM. What do you think the water lift would be if they were put in air series?

John;

Lift in Series - I would guess 230" of water or ~17" hg.

I was looking at some 148" lift vacs that had close to 130 CFM each.

The high lift should push it very close to that number.

Pretty good numbers for a portable.

What is the current draw for your motors?

Hi bill ,I read up on the machine. That is why I made those statements.(read larrys post) That machine(like most portables) do not have that much lift and cfm for 150 foot of hose. I don't like running 150 with by butler. I wasn't knocking the unit, just giving advice from experience.

Portables have their limitations like any machine. I agree that 50'-75' is plenty, even if it will work with longer hose. Thinking that a portable is equal to a TM is not realistic. A portable can do an excellent job of cleaning but it must be used within its limits. However, this machine that Jeff at GG's had us build is a mind blower.

First class John.

Any closer on revealing more info on your new flow-through booster?

Hey Willy P,

I see you use a Cross American. How about bringing down for the Mytee Mikeyfest, it can be part of our "Porty Shoot-Out". Come on it'll be fun.

All good comments, If I might add, Larry mentioned LIFT being more important for a long hose run, I tend to agree with emphasis on the "balance", while it is true that higher water lift is achieved by running two vacs in series (one behind the other), I don't personally prefer it if I have to give up 50% of my CFM.

Specifically for carpet cleaning: I would rather have Twice as much CFM if the waterlift is still respectable, which it is as you can see below.

Now for flood work, I'll agree with Larry, I'll take the additional 50-60% waterlift and settle on the 115cfm. In either situation, a 2" hose is very important.
