If you received a recall notice on your UD Truck, they want you to bring it in to see if you need the turbocharger replaced. Look at your turbocharger. There are BIG numbers stamped on it. If they are 432 or 433, You will need a new turbocharger.

If you don't have those numbers on it, don't waste your time because they won't replace it. I have those numbers and they are ordering me a new one.

If you have over 40,000 miles they say you don't need a new one.

Why would not "require" one, is it a recall or isn't it?

If I owned a UD truck, it would require a 3 hour drive, one way, for me to get factory authorized service done.

What a pain in the butt that would be.

Greenie,

They say if you don't have the problem by 40,000 miles you won't have it. I think that is crazy also. My truck has 35,000 miles so I am covered.

kudos to UD, generally recalls are only issued because there is a safety issue that can kill or hurt people. normally manufactures are content to not recall known defective parts if they pose no safety issue
