lordy, that was a doozy
Looks like a Sherwin Williams install
(yea, some SW stores sell carpet too)
and install a chit-ton in rentals
as far as Ohio, I'm told by the rep that the subs they use in NE Ohio get paid the most
...a whopping $2.60 sq yr .
(and subs provide their own tack strip and seam tape)
Subs in Columbus market get $2.10

I didn’t know SW did anything besides coatings
95% of all homes here are installed with just a knee kicker. We see this every day. Not our problem.crazy. I’ve seen them not lay back down flat at the perimeter and we power stretched or with crab stretcher.
some will install whole homes with just a knee kicker and you end up with a mess like that.

Could be wrong because I'm not an installer. But think anything over 4m x 4m has to be power stretched for the carpet warranty to be valid95% of all homes here are installed with just a knee kicker. We see this every day. Not our problem.
The retailers don't even give you warranty info unless you ask for it.Could be wrong because I'm not an installer. But think anything over 4m x 4m has to be power stretched for the carpet warranty to be valid
It is unless you want to risk losing customers. We re-stretch a few homes a year because "it was fine before you cleaned it". We explain it quite clearly how it isn't our problem and still re-stretch it.95% of all homes here are installed with just a knee kicker. We see this every day. Not our problem.
It rarely doesn't go back down. We explain the potential to our customers before we start cleaning. Most of my clients are repeat customers. It happens too much to worry about. You have to educate the customer. I had a good conversaton years ago with a carpet retailer that I used to work with. I was suggesting that maybe he should have 2 levels of installation service. The regular, where the carpet is just kicked in and a premium service where the carpet is power stretched. Offer a longer warranty on the stretched in carpet. He could see the value in it. Every joe blow down the road is just kicking it in, why should he be any different? That's just the way it is here. I am not going to pay for a crappy installers mistake. I will direct the customer to the correct solution. I have a great installation and repair company that I refer to them. The guys actually own power stretchers. They also further educate the customer. The only carpet warranty that an improper installation affects is the Texture Retention Warranty. Most of the time, it's not worth the paper it's written on. If the carpet manufacturers wanted to insure that their carpet is properly installed, they would insist that the retailers meet the right standards or not be able to sell their product. Not going to happen. Much easier to just blame the cleaners. It is unless you want to risk losing customers. We re-stretch a few homes a year because "it was fine before you cleaned it". We explain it quite clearly how it isn't our problem and still re-stretch it.
Believe me, if you don't, your customers will tell everyone who sees the rippling that "it was fine until Cleanworks cleaned it. I think the used too much water ..."
I agree. And yet you have that conversation with every customer prior to cleaning, and in my opinion needlessly worrying them over a problem that rarely is permanent. It's good that it works for you and I don't suggest that you change if that's the case. It wouldn't work for us.It rarely doesn't go back down.
‘ a bit more business”We probably do a bit more business than you and we only re-stretch maybe 2-3 jobs per year.
