Looks like a Sherwin Williams install
(yea, some SW stores sell carpet too)
and install a chit-ton in rentals

as far as Ohio, I'm told by the rep that the subs they use in NE Ohio get paid the most
...a whopping $2.60 sq yr .
(and subs provide their own tack strip and seam tape)
Subs in Columbus market get $2.10

crazy. I’ve seen them not lay back down flat at the perimeter and we power stretched or with crab stretcher.

some will install whole homes with just a knee kicker and you end up with a mess like that.

I didn’t know SW did anything besides coatings

95% of all homes here are installed with just a knee kicker. We see this every day. Not our problem.

Years ago I joked with a church administrator that the carpet had demons 👹👺when that happened. I knew it would go back down and it even happened when I used the cimex so I wasn't worried. I figured they must have saw this the last 16 zillion times I cleaned it. NOPE, When I came back up the stairs an hour latter to get something these ladies were walking around the carpet stomping their feet and speaking in tongues. One was saying devil get out of here, over and over. I felt horrible that she took me serious and called in the God-squad demon-chasing specialists . My grandfathers church in Florida was whacked out like that, I should have known better. When I was three , the Sunday school teacher there spanked me for refusing to fork over the quarter my grandma gave me for offering. I was like, forget that this is going to the convenience store candy isle. Not exactly what they expect out of the pastor's grandson but..........

It is unless you want to risk losing customers. We re-stretch a few homes a year because "it was fine before you cleaned it". We explain it quite clearly how it isn't our problem and still re-stretch it.

Believe me, if you don't, your customers will tell everyone who sees the rippling that "it was fine until Cleanworks cleaned it. I think the used too much water ..."

It rarely doesn't go back down. We explain the potential to our customers before we start cleaning. Most of my clients are repeat customers. It happens too much to worry about. You have to educate the customer. I had a good conversaton years ago with a carpet retailer that I used to work with. I was suggesting that maybe he should have 2 levels of installation service. The regular, where the carpet is just kicked in and a premium service where the carpet is power stretched. Offer a longer warranty on the stretched in carpet. He could see the value in it. Every joe blow down the road is just kicking it in, why should he be any different? That's just the way it is here. I am not going to pay for a crappy installers mistake. I will direct the customer to the correct solution. I have a great installation and repair company that I refer to them. The guys actually own power stretchers. They also further educate the customer. The only carpet warranty that an improper installation affects is the Texture Retention Warranty. Most of the time, it's not worth the paper it's written on. If the carpet manufacturers wanted to insure that their carpet is properly installed, they would insist that the retailers meet the right standards or not be able to sell their product. Not going to happen. Much easier to just blame the cleaners.

I took a iicrc repair and installation class years ago. I don't do installations but want to pick up any repair tips I could. In our class was a father and son team who had been installing carpets for 30 years. Our instructor had a bit of a sense of humor and after spending the morning talking about carpet construction, fibers and backings and whatever, says that after lunch, we will learn how to use a power stretcher. He turns to the father, who supposedly is the most experienced installer in the room, and says, "can you unpack the stretcher and find somewhere to plug it in"? The father and son take everything out of the 2 cases, including all the tubes and all and seem confused. They go back to the instructor and say, "we can't find the power cord, it must be missing". 30 years in the business and they have never seen a power stretcher.

I agree. And yet you have that conversation with every customer prior to cleaning, and in my opinion needlessly worrying them over a problem that rarely is permanent. It's good that it works for you and I don't suggest that you change if that's the case. It wouldn't work for us.

We probably do a bit more business than you and we only re-stretch maybe 2-3 jobs per year.

...and the majority of their subs do NOT use a power stretcher!!!

We do power stretching whenever we get a re-stretch job. We have 2 of them and plenty of extra padded sets of 2 X 4's in various lengths to make the job go much easier! In 35 years of stretching, we have not been called back more than 1 or 2 times, and we fixed it pronto!
