And my back hurts. I talked yesterday to a guy i worked with when i broke into carpet cleaning. 38 years ago. I started off as an installer , but my knees and back hated me after a few years. I saw an ad looking for carpet cleaners and that's where it all started. Theres been some tough times and a lot of good times. My wife handled our money very shrewdly and we're looking at a fairly comfortable retirement. I just had a decent offer to sell my business and while I haven't made up my mind completely, it may be time. I still love what I do but with my heart problems I might start the golden years a bit early. It looks like we're going to move to Kamloops and have a summer home in Nova Scotia to rent out and stay in when we choose. It's been a blast.

Sounds like a solid plan buddy!

38 years is a loooong time especially when you've been looking at the fuzzy stuff from the end of wand the entire time

Been slinging a wand going on 31 years now and with my kid and summer help doing 75% of the heavy lifting I'm looking to taper even further if I'm to reach your milestone

Give retirement a try, iffn you gets the itch you can always pick up a Craigslist portly and pick up some part time money

Congrats!

You lasted longer than me! lol 38 years aint easy on the body, so you deserve to retire, rest a lil, and to enjoy life.

I let go of the reins a while back when I hired someone to help with the day to day grunt. He's a hard worker and even though he's paid by the hour , he still gives me a good effort. I still do pretty good and he gets a good living wage. Too bad about the personality . I guess we can't all be as outgoing, funny and lovable as I am.

Wow. You’ll be an hour and 15 minutes from me Willy. We could do some fishing/beer drinking....
Or, you could always come teach me a few of your tricks of the trade if you get tired of watching day time TV.....
Let me know when, I’ll come out and help out on this end with the move....

Congratulations on the retirement, Willy. Please, let me know the address and where you leave the spare key to the house in Kamloops. I've been thinking of visiting there now that I have time to travel.

Congratulations Willy. If this decision is what is best for you and your lifestyle, then I couldn't be happier for you.

If you decide to rent out your home in Nova Scotia, make sure I know about it. You may remember its my favorite place in Canada.

Congrats

That’s a long time cleaning carpets. I was bored after a few and hitting 10yrs June. Thankfully we’ve morphed into other areas than just cleaning.
