Some manufacturers say to change both the vacuum and water pump oil at 50 hours then every 500

and some skip the first 50..

your thoughts?

50/ 500

But usually before the 500 hour mark....

We change all fluids way early....

I had a Tuthill 3006 changed blower oil once in 14 years roughly 5-6000 hrs and still working even though I bought a new one just to have a new one.

For peace of mind 50
Even with today's better machining there is always a chance for some metallic impurities being suspended in the oil during the first running of anything mechanical.

I would rather never change my pump oil and not let it run dry/hot than vice versa.

The first oil change is the most important, then it can ride for a very long time.

By the way I meant on the blower the first change is critical and subsequent oil changes are not as critical.

On the water pump the oil change on a more frequent schedule is critical.
50/500 on pump, blower still haven't changed at 1300 hrs. because i have doors on both sides and mine stays very cool compared to a van i don't worry about it. the synthetic oil says something like every 5000 hrs. no manual from the manufacture was included with my blower so i don't know what they actually say.
