We ran a Clean-a-Rama” fundraiser for our local High School Band this past Saturday. It is similar to what Jon Erickson did last year in Minneapolis. Didn’t know how it would go, but we felt it turned out well. Held it at the local Chrysler Dodge Dealership. Had people lined up before our starting time. The dealership owners were beaming with pride even being able to be part of this. Did about 120 items (even conned into cleaning an entire handicap van) We had 3 truckmount vans on site and made $1520 for the band from 8am – 3 pm. It is not a huge amount of money, but they would have had to sell about $3200 worth of candy bars to make that kind of profit. It was a constant blur of people for 8 hours or so. We had our cleaning rate lower than usual to attract people to bring things to us this first time. Even had people go home and bring more to us. Should have seen us panic when the U-Haul truck showed up and we didn’t know what was in it. Ended up being a big couch and 2 recliner chairs. We think it went well for our first time. We have another one for our Bemidji, MN account at the end of September and might even do one in Walker, MN. It had great response and I think we need to brace ourselves for more work to come to us. It was great to have such a positive impact on our community and also show our younger family members the true meaning of giving back to the community. My 72 year old father and 69 year old mother were even there cleaning. It was awesome!
