Bawb with cabients and furniture its always better to contrast the colors rather than attempt to blend them. We do alot of lighter floors with dark oak cabinets like maple, birch, or natural hickory. And we traditionally will put darker/stained woods down when they have primarily ligher cabinets. Not only do the grains clash with to speiceis that are half way similar color, but alot of times getting the colors to match up is a nightmare.
Now if you are talking putting a different wood floor in next to your brazillian paravu.. then you really want to match it if at all possible. But how far apart are the wood floors.. What flooring will seperate the two if any.. What colors on the walls/ baseboards ext.. You can get away with transitioning from a dark Exotic to a light oak if the rooms are either completley seperated or you have a good transition that completely seperates the two areas.
