We have hit the slow down of our season, but a few nice jobs waiting for confirmation of what day next week (large commercial)....and some nice can make us through jobs on the books....

This is the time of year that we say we are going to "Purge" the shop and get it all organized and dump the junk not being used.....

BUT.....

We are whooped! :errf:

And it is cold....and just hard to get motivated!

Today, I would like to start some of that purge and clean up....but I also feel like just giving the boys the day off

We have some carpet jobs this morning and finalize and wrap a few rugs in the shop....but I know this shop purge could take days! :dejection:

I don't think today will be the day :)

and will see how next week goes too between jobs

You guys have earned the break! Relax and enjoy your families.

We are getting killed here. A commercial fire, a house fire and we processed 14 water losses a couple of good sized commercial projects, a small mold job and still holiday carpet cleaning. :errf:

Hopefully we won't work too long tomorrow but I'm not so sure about Monday now. :dejection:

My wife reminded me if we were slow I'd be bitichin too so I suppose this is the better of the two. It doesn't feel better!

Some of our guys are working half of the day tomorrow. Just couldn't get everything done today.

The "on call" wdr crew had one this evening. Not a good start to their week. On call week starts Friday and they already have one.

I've got 3 mouths to feed. I'm on call 7 days a week, every day of the year.

The first several years of my business was depressingly slow. The stress of waiting for the phone to ring, literally took several years off my life. I know, because I had a bad pattern of partial seizures with my epilepsy. Now that my business took off, I'm able to pay the bills, and pay off the credit cards, and feed the family. I rarely have a partial seizure, and if I do, it's because I missed a dose of my meds.
I'm never going to live that life again

Screw the holidays! My holiday is living financial stress free.

Had my typical slowdowns but really worked pretty steady till this week.

Had to put a new garage door opener up. Neighbors had the same code and I found it open during that cold snap one day. We tried changing codes several times but it kept happening.

Put up a belt drive that's super quiet and has wifi so it will alert me when it's open. I haven't got that working yet but loving this opener.

I'm whooped though and looking forward to some rest for a couple months.

Geez- I start 3 floors of offices today, tomorrow off, finish the offices on Monday and then a whole pile of other stuff next week. But I get Christmas with the grandkids so it's all good.

Matt,

That's exactly the kind of attitude you should have!

For us up here in winter, it doesn't really matter what we do. It's going to sloooow down(at least 50% for us). It's normal, it sucks and better plan for it(less income) or you will be out of biz. The more we can save the easier/more enjoyable winter is. This is also about our 10th yr in biz and the work does start to wear on you. If you can pay the bills, some recharge time is a good thing(for me anyways), otherwise I just get burnt out.
