This was some prep testing before my seminar this Friday @ Experience.
First Crazy Ray obtained some used nylon cut pile carpet in a light color.
We felt years old carpet would be closer to what you run into out in the field.
I wanted some very difficult stains to test on.
I chose DuraSeal stain/finish in a dark antique brown.
It was painted directly on the carpet and penetrated thru to the backing.
For the second stain, I selected a dark blue toilet bowl cleaner.
It was sprayed with a trigger sprayer until it also penetrated to the backing.
Both stained areas were about 3.5" wide x 10" in length.
The DuraSeal stain/finish dried to a hard dark residue on the carpet.
I needed a very strong solvent to attempt the removal.
I chose our Vandalism Remover aerosol for initial removal.
After spraying the bottom area completely, I worked it with a spotting brush for about a minute, and then extracted with a hand tool. Removal was good, but some streaks remained so I applied a second V. Remover application & rinsed with our H.D. Preconditioner.
The toilet bowl cleaner was next. Ray & I had tested this stain with our Fabric Brightener (12% peroxide) last week in Witchita Falls, but only removed about half of the stain.
This time I used a slightly stronger peroxide version and saturated the test area. I then adjusted the tripod of the Hi-Power UV light to provide about a 5" circle of intense UV irradiation.
This is a photo of the results with untreated at the top:

Several experienced cleaners thought that neither of these stains were capable of being removed.
