Glide customer last night..

Isnt it or shouldn't it be our goal to aquire "clean" customers?
The type that leaves a key under the mat and have you out like clock work.
Dwell time only if HWE or just pad it.

So why do some of us stick to shit pits?

Less demanding on your people skills?

Probably.

Thoughts?

Service and value means just that...
The person you consider not worthy ,may build a successful enterprise some day...
poor babies need clean rugs as well as billionaire brats...
Carpet cleaning means just that...
There are a percentge you should refuse...
But even successful carpet cleaners can lose all in the wink of an eye...
My 2 cents-regards to all...
One reason the carpet market is crashing, Poor work when needed most on dirty rugs...
Hence the tear it up mentality go with hard floors...

A cleaner with one of the most successful commercial carpet cleaning businesses has this rule for his salesmen:

1. The building must have a sign on the front, a paved parking lot, as well as landscaping. His reason was that if the business didn't care about outside appearance, it surely wouldn't care about inside appearance.

2. The carpet inside must be clean, or nearly so. To him, dirty carpet meant that clean carpet wasn't important to the business owner/manager, so why give a price? He never based his marketing of his service as "The Best Cleaning Ever", as everyone usually expects that. He based his unique selling positions on: Reliability, Security, Communication, and a Stress Free business relationship.

It goes counter to most everything most cleaners think, but it worked very well for him.

Ron Werner aka “turtle vac” would say I don’t clean for the people moving out, I clean for the people moving in..

I don’t like to do move out cleanings, I clean only one way as if myself and family is living on it.. It’s a paradigm shift in mindset.. I’ll clean anything as long as both parties are aware of the limitations and we get paid for it as well..

I don't get a lot of very dirty carpet anymore but you still have to be prepared for it. Just did a job in a nice high end home with white nylon carpets throughout. 22 years old and except for a few spots, it was immaculate. However, their family room was a polypropylene loop carpet about 20 years old, never been cleaned and the traffic areas around where the furniture was black. They had already moved the furniture. Switched my prespray to Code Red, sprayed heavily, let it dwell for a bit while I did some edging and it came out like new carpet. They won't remember me for the rest of the house but they will for that one room.

You goobs must be bored thinking this deep in it.

If someone calls needing our services, whether it's neglected or cleaner...price accordingly. If you priced it right, the trashed carpet customers will slowly fade away and trickle in every now and then. Otherwise...GO TO WORK!

I think a good pricing structure does most of this for you. When I was new I had get in the door pricing and didn’t realize how much it cost to operate. I realized I couldn’t do miracles and how Much work it takes to do a good job. I got burnt out on bad customers and being broke until one day I told my wife
I don’t want to go clean anymore if people don’t want to pay for it to be done right! I raised my prices and all of a sudden had better clientele less work and more money.

This is what I’ve built my business on…

Last years goal was to do one K a day, for everyday of the year.

I fell 11 K short.

I’ve got more work to do….

This year, I shall not let myself down

Sorry to hear that.
Thanks Ron. I've been hit pretty hard last couple years. Watch the movie brain on fire. I've been going through that and a lot more. doctor thinks i have Asperger and lupus dysautonomia and is testing me for about a dozen other things. fighting this all my life but last couple years have been horrible. extreme dizzy spells for 3 days one time 2 two weeks another which landed me in the emergency room after a week but got no help. im use to that though. always felt it was up to me to figure out how to stay alive.
this neurologist told me to eat more salt to regulate my blood pressure better because i pass out a lot and thats been helping with my kidneys too for some reason. my body has trouble regulating my heat too. i usually feel like im cooking. i have trouble getting food down. thought it was my stomach pushing on the esophagus but guess its part of an autoimmune thing too. theres just so much i need to write a book about it. but it explains everything in my life even my over extended elbow and inverted chest. breathing issues muscle aches and joint pain even my anger and emotional state. its everything that is and has ever been wrong with me.

but im slowly getting back to my normal which is just a clearer mind not so dizzy and not get exhausted so easily.

Wow, doesn't sound fun at all. It's a lot to deal with. Hopefully you can work through it and improve your quality of life.
