I am running a honda air cooled engine on my tm. It has over 5000 hours and recently started to run rough at idle and blow a little black smoke. Obviously needs a decarb. My Polish mechanical genius friiend in the shop next door recommended to run the motor until it's hot and squirt water into the intake until the motor begins to choke. You wouldn't believe the smoke that comes out. I did this several times until the engine stopped smoking. When I began, the top rpm was 3520, now it is 3640. It runs smooth at idle. He recommends to do this once a month. Let your engine run for 10-15 min. To dry out.

Got nothing to lose, the engine is on it's last legs. Just debating whether to decarb and reset the valves one more time or get a new one. These engines are seem to be a lot more pricey over here.

Used to just spray decarb into the intake until it started to stall. About once a month on my Onan.
