He is paying 10.00 for just the numbers. Not the sale or sales.

I do a 20 / 20 in the form of gift cards.

Client gives them out.

I like that one Harper! Handout card and receiving $20.00 might just motivate a homeowner to give them out.

Several years ago we hired and office girl that when we started to talk about carpet cleaning she mentioned she used a competitor as her carpet cleaner.

When questioned why she chose them as her cleaner she told us that it wasn't a matter of their work, they did decent work and were nice BUT her real motivation was that for everyone she referred to them she received (3) crisp $5.00 bills. (A Joe Polish strategy)

She had been using and referring them for years, just because she got her $15.00 per referal. I've seen Jimmy naked

P.S. She lasted about a month here, the sell out b*tch!

Sounds like maybe she referred your customer to them and collected a bunch of $5 bills?

No actually they are not in our price range, cut rate guys but it was still disturbing.

She was canned because of her lack of office skills. A gamble we took on a house wife returning to the workforce.

Is this a program that you still employ?

Yes it is on the back of one of our business card's.

When we raised our minimum charge. This was a way to HELP our seniors absorb the increase
in price. We have one lady that gets her carpet cleaned FREE every year.. hey now She waits until she has gotten 6 referrals...then calls... :!:

The SECRET to the referral program is to get them there "$20.00 CASH" asap...!!!!!
It starts a BUZZ in the community....of FREE CASH... LIKE!
We even have employees...that request the CARDS...

The client can either give the referral the $"20.00 discount" as a gift to a friend...
Or receive the $20.00 cash.

Very easy to track...The client presents the card to the tech. The card is signed with contact
phone # of referer. The card is stapled to the PAID invoice. Office calls the referrer the same or next day & notifies them they will be receiving CASH in the mail . Or they can stop by the office at their convenience.

CASH IS KING....people don't respond well to % off anymore... KMA! ...They realize their is a catch somewhere or inflated values... LIKE!

It is a great idea and very simple.

Do you physically mail out $20 bills?
That could be a problem to these bigger companies.

Personally would rather hand out $20 gift cards towards service then cash but that is just me.

Shane,

The CASH is what projects the VALUE to the referrer...

They see you as HONEST...."NO strings attached."... :!:
Many seniors or anyone else for that matter, see it as a way to supplement their income. LIKE!
They end up being SALESMEN...for your company.!
We have to mail very few $20.00 dollar bills...The referral is usually a neighbor...
So we book them with-in a couple of days anyway. So as soon as we finish the job...
we just head down the street & give them the money...!!! Or if they are not available.?
We make sure it is OK to leave the cash with their friend...!

This usually SPARKS interest for the client being cleaned to ask for a card...

ps. We just write a check for CASH...to get the 20 dollar bills..Then we can write off
the advertisement. The redeemed cards provide proof of the expense...

pps. You mentioned something about companies...Anyone tha reffers a commercial accnt.
to us recieves a "ONE TIME" 10% bird-dog fee...! It cannot be an existing cleint.. -sniff

{QUOTE} I get all that and like it.

Was more thinking long term or asking questions that a bigger cleaner might think about.
Me taking out petty cash and mailing out $20 bills is great but i dont like the idea of employees having a $1,000 in the office and mailing out 20 $20 bills everyday.
But i am a little paranoid so ...

We do things a little different in the south...

This is a direct response or target type of marketing...
You only offer the card to preferred cleints..."nice homes" or nice subdivisions...

A LARGE company would not even consider this program...
It is more oriented to the O/O...

My office and employees handle a lot more than $1000.00 in cash on certain days...

While it does not work for everyone...IT DOES WORK.... LIKE!

We had a snazzy referral card printed and just give it out and explain how we work off referrals and it seems to work.

Define "Seems to work"? What is your return for # of cards given out vs # cards redeemed? What % of your jobs are referals? any trends when comparing month to month or year over year?
