Those stains will be hard to remove.

If you attempt it remember the complete panel or complete piece must be cleaned or wet out to prevent your own water ring.

The hard part goes back to the same as last weeks, the fix can be harmful to the fabric.

If you are hungry enough to try this:

1. Follow the "I don't guarantee nothin' lady" commentary I suggested last week, including written agreements that you aren't responsible for color loss, fabric damage (that satin weave could tear so easy if its sun or salt damaged...), and water marks.

2. Vacuum it well, using a plastic screen to keep from tearing the fabric.

3. Spray the entire piece with distilled water.

4. Apply preconditioner very evenly in a fine mist. I don't feel good about anything alkaline or that contains oxidizers, despite the fact that it looks like it could use both. Something neutral or very mildly acidic would be best.

5. Rinse with a mild acid rinse.

6. Dry it fast.

7. Get paid no matter how bad it looks.

8. Take before and after pictures. Once in a great while silk responds surprisingly well, unlike rayon or cotton. I don't think this will be one of those times, but just as soon as you don't....you'll wish you had.

9. Delete the above advice and do something better with your time.

#9 LOL

I had a client that had silk seating around an enclosed pool area (Holidome type) and moisture would occasionally condensate and drip on the silk. I got the stains out the first time and even the second but by the third time it wouldn't come out completely and I got a complaint.

After going into great detail why it wouldn't come out and how that was a poor choice to use near a pool I think I pissed off the client. :errf:

I had a piece of Silk watermarks like that took my hand tool and it split like nothing. I did not have to pay for it . The other chair I cleaned came out fantastic and she knew it was not my fault. Take extreme caution.

I think I would hit that with the boost all , buff all and some fine fabric whip it into a foam sponge it on . May take a few times for me that is the safest. Just an opinion.

Been there, done that. I mean the part about pissing off the client by telling them " this furniture should never have been sat on".

probably has Vermin living in it!
But since its poly it should clean up ok.?
Id tell her: "I Might not be able to make it perfect looking but I can make it Hygienic. The color lost could be permenate airbrushed to make less noticeable. It will cost X amount to clean it- you might want to put that money toward replacement-- what would you like me to do?"

A good hack could find matching spray paint and make a good buck without incident, providing the cleaning van could outrun their sunfaded, rusty, filthy car.

Richard will photo-shop it for you. Send back a picture of the sofa looking brand new.
Pay Richard his regular hourly rate $7.25 p.h. Mark up 100%.

You'd be king of the hill.
