How to Become an Expert in Your Market in Three Easy Steps

One of the most powerful threads that ties successful 1-10 employee business owners to their customer base is the fact that they are considered "experts" in their field. As experts, these businesses exude leadership qualities that naturally attract a base of loyal followers.

Unfortunately, this reality escapes many 1-10 employee Cleaning Business owners who are desperate for a profitable operation. They really feel that they don't have such specialized knowledge, or the right qualifications. They think they must possess some kind of a formal "degree" in order to attract such a base of loyal followers.

Actually all experts must "learn" their field. There are many ways to become an expert in your field. Some small business owners might go back to school for a formal degree, others attend seminars and workshops specific to their niche, while still others teach themselves, and earn the “Expert” title by study & application.

Both Albert Einstein and Earl Nightingale made us aware that if an individual dedicates just thirty minutes each day to studying a certain topic, they will become an expert on that topic within one year's time. Obviously, if you study for an hour every day, you can conceivably become an expert in six months time. Not too shabby!

This expertise will be one of the most important components to the overall success of your business in the long-run.

Three very simple steps will help you to develop your unique “Expertise” in your market place.

The Three-Step Formula:

Step #1 - Identify Problems.
First and foremost, find a cleaning problem challenge common to your market place that is in need of expert advice. One of the simplest ways to do this is to make a list of problems that your customers and prospects face and ask about.

Here are a few brain ticklers:

What frustrates or angers your prospective clients and customers?
Odors? Allergy reactions? Ugly stains? . . . ?
Are they frustrated or depressed because of . . .
Carpets that need replaced because of the smell of pet urine?
Carpets that get dirty too quick? . . . ?
Do they need maintenance advice?
No matter where you operate your business, there are always problems
that your prospects' face on a daily basis that your expert guidance will solve.

Step #2 Research Solutions.

Once you have identified common problems in your marketplace, begin researching possible solutions. Read online articles, visit your local library, and attend classes, seminars and webinars. The main goal of your research is so that you can eventually offer tangible solutions to your customers and prospects.
Step #3 Educate Your Prospects.
You can turn your knowledge into a special presentation that can be made available in several ways.

Make a 20 minute presentation at Seniors monthly meeting.
Place a simplified “care guide” on your website.
Offer a “free cleaning demo”
The main objective is to offer your prospects a sample of your “Expertise”. Once you begin using your knowledge base and sharing your “Expertise” with others in your marketplace, you'll be surprised how quickly you will develop a group of followers that are eager to do business with you.

If you use this simple three step formula to (1) identify the problems in your marketplace, (2) research the solutions and then (3) share your “Expertise” and educate your prospects, you will soon find that you have more business than you can handle!
