I'm having learning curve issues.I bought a Liberator mostly to scrub nasties, but I've also used it for encap and setting pile. I bought a couple of tubs of the sponges to play with, carpets look great in some cases, crappy in others. I'm vacing, scrubbing in the prespray, scrubbing in the sponges, letting it dry and vacing up. Is there something I'm missing? On the plus side - if I get any wicking on a job, this seems to end it., and I've had some good comments on back to back moves.HELP!

I would think using any of the new age SHAMPOOS would aid in the whole process.

Did someone say HOST?! Sorry; I was drowsing off, and thinking about something called a kunkle... which I believe is the traditional Russo-Finnish hat worn by males on May Day.

So Mr. P, without knowing what carpet you're working on or which brushes you have or which sponges you have or what prespray you're using, I'll say:
Prespray is usually not necessary. And if it is, it should only be be applied sparingly, otherwise you mess up the wicking ability of the sponges. Then they don't clean as well and then everyone is sad.
Also, scrubbing in prespray is not necessary.
Also, waiting for it to dry is not necessary with the Liberator.

Since Debbie is far to kind of a lady to say this, I will say it for her:

It seems many of us (myself included) "industry trainers" had been presenting the "Absorbent Compound Method" improperly by over applying prespray and by telling our students that they needed to wait until the compound was dry before extracting.

This would be like someone from Racine Industries (Host) teaching hot water extraction by putting a high pH, sticky detergent in a portable and overwetting the carpet (like you see in some of the Chem Who ads).

Fortunately for me, I met Debbie through MB, and she brought me up to date on how the system is used TODAY and made me a better instructor as a result.

PS: Jimmy made me a better instructor, too. I call "encapsulation" SHAMPOO whenever I get the chance, in his honor!

Since confession is good for the soul I also with Jim was slightly ignorant, well actually very ignorant about the process. We held a CCMT class in Dalton last month at Tandus Collins & Aikman Carpet Mill where they are big believers in the Host system. It did a very nice job on some soiled carpet.

Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.

I don't feel so bad when the highly esteemed have admitted to the same. I'm gonna give it another whack today.
