I personally would rather work in cold rather than snow. This week has been around zero or below and running out hose and running the machine just doesn't stop me. I even run a machine that I have to keep the doors open while running. Who has issues when it comes to frigid temps?

The guys on one of the water losses last night went to open the dump valve and it snapped off of the threads.

It can get brutal out there at night when its windy.

Working and driving in snow is a pain in the rump, and shoveling walks so I can work just adds more time and effort to the job. It can get as cold as it wants (and it wants to get very cold now). I just get my van warmed up and fill my fresh tank with hot water. I keep the water hose recirculating back into the fresh tank while I am setting up a job so everything stays hot. I overdress and actually get hot outside, a facemask helps as do warm dry gloves.

I'm having no problems at all....

But then again....I'm in Florida while my son in law does all the work :very_drunk:

But normally, it's all part of the biz up in the North.

But the older I get....the more I dislike cold!

last week I cleaned when it was -11 and 20mph. winds, I cussed every time I came out to the truck. My truck is ideal for winter cleaning though, I shut the back door and the inside stays around 75 deg. nothing freezes inside. Sometimes Ill get in the back of the truck and warm up while my chimp sits inside and cleans.

It was zero here on Thursday, today it was 12 degrees HEATWAVE.:hopeless: Tonight it will be minus 3 without the windchill. I have cleaned down to minus 25 without any issues, but tonight the Aerotech is in the building at 70 degrees and I am going to bed:lol:

I do.

I hate the cold with a passion.

That's why I live where I live.

Anything below this is freezing:

14ºC = 57.200ºF

At the moment it's a lovely 31c which is 87f, 68rH & 17mph light winds, with 30% precipitation.

Godsowncountry.

Carbon Monoxide doesn't always kill right away, but it damages brain cells. Seriously! You are risking your life resting back there with the machine running.

This is true with any slide in. I removed the CO detector from the inside of the truck because it went off constantly. That tells me NOT to sit in the warm truck to write out invoices while Jon wraps up the last of the job.

I personally would rather work in cold rather than snow.

You ARE nuts! Snow I can shovel and it's fun to drive in. -30 windchill and my shat(tm) is going to freeze. Heck, just tonight my dwyer meter froze(-20 windchill) cleaning 4k sqft... There goes 70 bucks... uggggg...

The guys on one of the water losses last night went to open the dump valve and it snapped off of the threads.

Yep, mine would and does freeze shut when full.:hopeless:

I'd rather have a foot of snow and 28 than frigid cold

This is two years in a row temps are lower than I ever remember seeing. 30f is cold, -18(or whatever) is just nuts!

I have a CO detector in back of my truck. My exhaust is plumbed down through the floor in the truck down by the ground.

Crazy Kansas weather, from negative wind chills to sunshine and 44° in a week. :icon_rolleyes:

suppose to get out of the single digits today. started at -7.

been working all week which is unusual this time of year. had some long days cleaning apartments by day and restaurants at night.

ive actually started wearing gloves, at least while wrapping up hoses. vacuum hose gets awfully cold when covered with snow when its this cold out.

the cold sucks but we almost always have snow to go with it.

i dont look forward to it but if it wasnt for work i wouldnt leave the house much. kinda glad to get some exercise. the money doesnt hurt neither.

oh, and the van i have now has the rhino package. that means its insulated. i believe mark saiger told me some years ago how much it helps and it really does make a big difference. thanks mark!

Nah.......been doing it for so long that it's just a few adjustments. Fire up the TM, roll out the vac hose, get set for cleaning, last minute, roll out the solution line outside and head in to clean. Carrying my own water makes a HUGE difference when setting up now. Close the doors to just a gap, and clean on. Oh, and set up the Seal-A-Door!

Yup, and way against my will at that...
Could be a great thread Chris.

Of my four sons I "expected" the oldest three to work in the business. Now Jeremy and Joshua work in OSHA related fields in Ohio, and Jason serves in Nicaragua, only cleaning here during turns in August. They were each great cleaners for me.

Youngest, Justin, never really cleaned much officially, you know, the "baby brother" thing. However after working very successfully up to regional superintendent of a national water-proofing company he decided to come back and straighten out dad. That was fun for us both. We should write a book, alternating chapters, for the saga of fathers and sons in our industry.

We talk and share insights all the time.

I shouldn't overlook my daughter either. A married mom of two now, but still a great cleaner. When I do her house she immediately takes the wand from me so I can be entertained by granddaughters.

She still does supervision on commercial accounts and collections.

anything the boys can do...

That's considered a miracle.
Actually, in my book you qualify as a pilgrimage site :winky:
My oldest boy came to his first job when he was 6 weeks.Slept through the whole 20 minute service call.Truthfully, he wasn't much help until he was around 11, but if he could, he came out. He's going to be taking over soon as I'm almost ready for pasture. He loves the business. The youngest boy hates it passionately.

Get someone to interview your youngest son. You may learn something.
