All due respect.............but unless somehow you managed to find the cloud with the silver lining and are doing really good for only being in the business for only a year....you had better get a bit more time under your belt and a stronger company in order before you decide to take on one of these machines.....Once you have a real strong client base and have a good foundation for your company..then I would more then highly recommended one of these type units......

It would be hard for me to make a decision like that never seeing one run. Besides I got burned on some commercial accounts and don't want to compete with all the other low ballers doing restaurants. I can't tell you how much more happy I am since I cut back on night work. I am going to stay residential for now and a V just would not work for me right now. What does he want for the V anyways. You never know. Also, why is he selling?

If he is grossing between 150k to 200K.....he can support a BIG truck....

We run 3 men on our big trucks...It effectively give you a Truck & 1/2..the Silver bullet of TM's
It is easier to adjust your day to 1,2,or 3 techs...than having a tm sitting on the yard...
You are NEVER underpowered....duel wanding adds daylight to every day...techs don't get
tired...&...you are cutting the hours on the tm in half...

Our cleints appreciate having us in & out of their home's...so their time is NOT wasted
with a cleaner in their home ALL DAY.. :!: A used BIG truck at 40 to 50k is a wise investment
in a growing company... Two smaller unit's...are more expensive to OPERATE...
You can always..lay off an employee..easier than you can find WORK for a unit in the yard
rUsTiNg... :(

and if you are doing this after just being in this business for only 1 year I would agree....

I am not saying that it is not possible... but even if the economy was in better shape....with only one year under this mans belt he may be biting off more then he can chew....Just something for him to think about.....I know when I first started it was a struggle and to get my company where it is now ...it was not easy... and if I would of invested in the truck I have now out of the starting gate I am sure it would of been listed for sale long time ago.....

You never can tell who is over their head and debt and everything is done for show, but I will say Ben has the right mindset and has created an image in a year or so that others have taken a decade to do. He can thank the internet for that.

Jim,

I agree with you...and agree that your advise is solid....!

Ben changes equipment every 3 months.. but he seems to be a "Mover & a Shaker"
He is young to the business....BUT he doesn't lack ambition...and has NO fear.. If he does
purchase a Big truck..? It will satisify his ego for a while...and allow him to stay focused
on building his biz. Image seems to be VERY important in his biz plan..Check out his website.

In this current market ....There are some UNBELIEVABLE deals out there..!!!!! I personally
do NOT believe ...I will ever purchase NEW equipment again.. :( I am not a fan of lawnmower
engines.. It is crazy to pay 40k lawnmower motor, pump, small blower, & a new van...

Jim, I think you will admitt...that your "V"...has been worth every penny you have spent on her.
I would venture to assume...That it will extend you cleaning years...with the STRESS that it
relieves on your body..? Three jobs a day with a smaller unit...would take you much longer &
be a lot more physical labor on you.. "To achieve the same results a your "v"....you would
need to pre-scrub many more jobs'"

Vehicle and machine have been well maintained. Xentherm oil changed on reg basis, machine has been lubricated at scheduled intervals according to manufacturer recommendations. Drive train, PTO shafts greased, blower greased, oil changed, pump oil changed on regular basis. Front tires have 10K miles left. No blemishes on interior or dash board.

Probably a good solid unit ........miles are low...machine hours are low....good price......
Notice it is a 1200 unit not a 1400....If you want a large truck but don't want the real large capacities .........this one will serve you well.......good price..looks well taken care of...this is the exact same unit I have except for the year......I have what I need to dual wand if I want to but yet not to over loaded for the single O/O....Gas mileage on this is about 15 to 16 and by yourself you can knock out 5 to 6 homes a day and still be home for dinner.....If I needed another one I would probably jump on this one real quick.................. so for all you guys that have called or e-mailed me in the last month or so............there ya go.........

Get the ICS annual guild out or go to their website & down load it. Call the leasing companies that run ads in there. Call both manufacturers and ask what leasing companies they use, call them. A few weeks ago a leasing company rep posted on another board that they have tons of repos, from every major manufacturer. Also check out www.usedtruckmount.com
and click on the where to buy tab.

If you can wait till MARCH or April I would. There are tons of carpet cleaning companies folding up already and the off season will only exacerbate that. This Spring there will be even more trucks available so drive a hard bargain. Offer half of what they are asking. Unless you have the ability to pay cash, or have a years worth of payments saved up, I wouldn't do it.

Yeah I guess the catch is that I can't pay cash for it. Is there any companies who will finance the 50K for a 5 year term? Seems like ANYONE can buy a used car, but it sounds like getting financing for one of these is like pulling teeth?

I would normally try the bank where you do most of your business first , and then lease companies. However the lease companies will work with you on a used repo as they need to clean up their balance sheets. If you check out the above mentioned site and click on where to buy you will see several sites for used trucks. There is a lot of used/repossessed inventory available.

Just make sure you are ready for it. We don't know what the off season will be like. Last January was my best ever, but so far my December is way off. Hard to predict cash flow in this environment and thus I'm not fond of additional debt.

Best of luck in your search.

Excellent Idea. I did this back in April of this year and got a great deal on a white magic 1200. I was basically able to take over payments on a unit that the previous owner had already paid most of the interest. This all with less than steller credit. Find a lease company sitting on an AT or V and I imagine they will work with you.

Hey no disrespect taken. In a year we've grown extremely quick and developed some very large accounts that require more machine and more power. My plan is to sell one of my Slide-In units, and replace it with the V- hire another tech and send the V out to do 4 jobs per day instead of 2 jobs per day on the Slide-in.

Right now I pay about 1,700 a month for one of my setups that I will be selling. I think i can make someone payments of 800-900 per month and have it be in line with a 4 year pay off. At that point my plan is to purchase 1 more V and hire 2 more technicians. Spread my service locations up north to Bellingham and possibly open offices in Portland.

But, I do know that I have the capability to financially afford a V and I am positive that it will make me much more money than I currently am and be the missing link in my current business model.

Ben
