We have an Ospry and a couple of gumbuster carts and yes they really do vaporize gum. Not sure where it goes but it just flat out zaps it.

Works great but if the sidewalk is dirty it leaves a white clean spot much like spotting a soiled carpet. We've used it on carpet too works great there also.

The problem is a generator to run them. You need power to get and keep the heat that is needed to do the work. I'd check out what the power requirements are for a generator to run the unit efficiently. I'm guessing it will need at least 3500kw?

Lots of brands out there, plus they can so much more than just gum.

im getting me some of this...

http://www.excellent-supply.com/Rel...2-cans-for-Removing-Gum-From-Carpet_p_61.html

as a janitor this was how we removed gum from commercial carpet. i havent done it in years or on residential but im sure it will work.
i cant find a video of it but you just spray freeze it and hit it with the bottom of the can and it shatters into pieces and breaks away from the carpet.

funny, my Dermatologist used a freeze spray to remove some things from my skin yesterday. i told her i use the same stuff on carpet and that i coulda saved a ton of $ doing it myself.
