Anyone using the NEW Hydra-Master Dri-Master upholstery tool and if so could you tell me what you like and/or dislike about the NEW tool? And, if possible, how it compares to the old one?

Dennis;

I like it a lot.

It is :
1. Wider
2. Much Better Construction
3. Improved Water Channel

They blew it big time that it is missing the 2" ring for the vac line so you need a whip or an adapter.

The handle position is a lot further forward than the old one and it feels a bit ungainly with all this rigid area out behind your hand.

Love the extra width and the better water flow though.

Another down side, the old one had a vac chanel both boefre and after the water chanel... this only has the one conventional after the water... I miss that too.

I personally have not, but I bought one and our upholstery tech loves it. He says he likes it a lot better than the old Drimaster, he likes the better coverage.

We did have a line that broke inside after a few weeks of use but it was under warranty and it was replaced by Pemberton's/Hydramaster.

Nice tool, great service!

Love it.

I find it very comfortable to use, even though I did not get the optional handle with it.

I don't find it at all ungainly, in fact I like to be able to change positions on that long handle occassionaly.

I find that it stops you getting sore arms etc; by being able to change grip easily.

A lot smoother to use than the old one & with better coverage.

The thumb knob to control water flow is great, it is positioned ideally where it should be, much better than the knob at the other end on the old one.

I'm also pleased that it no longer has the small valve under the handle as the old model had.

The water channel is a lot wider than the old one, as others have stated, so although the bulk water does not come out in a narrow section, you can get good flow across the channel.

Some have made comment about not enough water flow, & that was also my concern with the old model, however, a small trigger sprayer with water, on my belt or on my work table soon fixed that problem.

(I always take a small fold-up work table for cleaning cushions and chairs on, it makes it easier on the body).

I have found with this model, I don't need the water bottle as often, (or I'm not getting badly soiled furniture as much).

I also was impressed by the fact that there was no sticky name tag on the tool.

These stickers bug me, and it was the first thing that came off the old tool.

The black colour is much more suitable than the previous white, which could get dirty relatively easy and to me, & did not look good when in home.

I liked the old model for fringe cleaning as you could allow the fringes to be sucked into the chamber and flushed with ease.

You can't do that with the new one, but it does not concern me since I have given up the rug cleaning.

I'm not fussed with the dozen or so screws to undo and replace when you want to clean the inside of the head/handle.

This is also a noisier tool than the older model, due I think, to the narrow channel sucking more air, which in turn dries fabric quicker.

There are trade-offs but this has quickly become my tool of choice for upholstery.

Although the old one still sits in the van, waiting

Ooroo,

I like it alot as the guys ahead of me have mentioned but has anyone noticed that you can feel the heat through the handle, my only gripe that it sometimes gets hot to handle.

Shorty, I didn't get the additional handle either and like you stated above, also found myself holding the thicker area a bit further back at times and gripping above the adjustable dial.

I'll get use to it, and don't want to go back having used the newer and wider tool.

I'll keep it.
