I thought the 360i with the brush head was just what I'd like to get.
However, I do not want to commit a vehicle to a truckmount (even after Mikey helpfully urged me to "quit being a tightwad and get them something decent!").
For us, the larger portables with auto fill and pump out, or the Dwellpro might make sense for driving the 360i.
I counted four liquor stores on the way home. Not sure yet which one to rob for the money.
Going to a tm from portables is a big step. New, you are looking at $60,000. or so. Used is a lot cheaper to start but you need to be handy around mechanical things. I have owned pto units and slide in's and both have their pro's and con's. You really have to look at your business and see where a tm is going to be faster or more powerful than what you are using now. For myself, doing houses and light commercial, the tm is the only way to go. We pull up out front and are able to hook up the truck and begin prespraying in less than 5 min. if were are not pre vacuuming. When doing large commercial jobs, we don't stop to empty or fill and the additional heat makes everything go a lot easier. My current units are both slide ins, used but it in good mechanical shape. I do my own maintenance and minor repairs. 2 of my old tm's that I sold years ago are still in service and making money for the guys that bought them. One is a 1989 and the other is a 1991. I have great portable equipment that I use where the tm won't go but on everything else, it's the the tm or nothing, which is why I and others usually have a back up. I don't know what Marty has but if it is in good shape and he will give you a good deal, it might be a good way to start. (also a good marketing tool) Many people, rightly or wrongly, believe a truck mount will always outclean a portable. Plus, it gives you an extra truck. Also the ability to use tools like the Zipper and 360i to their full potential. It can be more costly but it can also bring in more revenue. You'll know when you are ready.
