Butler can build me a new truck mount in a brand new van , I’m looking to unload my 2005 Butler unit

problem is the floor is rotted badly throughout

what would you do?

I’m thinking , take the best offer from Butler or simply strip off all the valuable components and donate the van for the write off

the sum of the parts have value ( blower Cat pump , et al.

this truck is a daily runner , but the van floor is a MAJOR concern at this point

what would you do?

Have someone pull everything off, hit the junkyard for a van floor. Put in the floor and put the components back on.

We had a box truck that we bought used. It was badly salt damaged and eventually rusted through near the pedals. Had a guy at the junkyard fabricate a floor out of a truck hood.

He put it in and looked as good as new. $100.00.

Very good suggestion Richard... for the right person this could be a labor intense project with a handsome payoff

the engine has a 5 year old rebuilt Jasper and the Butler runs like a top

biggest mistake I made was not rhino lining the floor back in 2005 before the machine was installed

I also let the overhead reel leak continuously for years while filling the fresh tank which caused most of the floor rot

I’d be happy getting $4k for the Butler and Van as is , but I have strong feeling I’m gonna get significantly less if I hand the keys over when I buy my new unit

I bought a Butler out of CT once (Taylor's Teddy Bear) thinking it couldn't be THAT bad.

It was. Machine ran flawlessly, but way too trashy to use in this rust-free area. Maybe in New England or north.

It was 14 years old

I drove that van all the way to Texas to see my wife. I remember taking the valve cover off to tighten the rocker arms while it was running. I wouldn’t drive that thing to the store now. But I hopped in it and drove 1000 miles.

My spare van that I bought is getting a new power steering pump, hoses, reservoir, both front brake calipers, pads, and hoses as well. Buyer's remorse...yes, I bought a problem.

And the heat exchanger I'm replacing is on back order from what Jondon told me. Ugh

Worse than this? Boyle.
I’m down the Cape right now .... I’ll be back in a few days and post some pics , but yes it’s a lot worse

the solution reel is barely bolted to the floor on one bracket and the entire side step is rotted away undernesth the plastic molding

the rear space in the middle is exposed throughout several sections of the floor

its a mess

the exterior appearance is not bad , aside from rear some wheel well New England salt rusting

i may just pull the blower, cat pump and misc hoses and reels and junk the metal

Ill see what Butler is willing to offer

What's the chance of finding another '05 van with decent miles to move the butler over to it?

I think most of us get to a point where we just don't want to work on shit all the time. today I changed the oil in my 870. I think I would have gladly paid someone to do it. I just wasn't into it today. Although I am more than capable of building a new van out, the thought of doing it wears me out. I'd rather just spend the money on a turnkey package.

When I bought my van new, I had it under coated, and spray lined in the floor interior, then had it sprayfoamed for insulation, BEFORE I had them install the machine…
And I’m anal as hell in keeping it clean on the interior, exterior, and the undercarriage…. So much so, I built a pressure washer floor bar, with the jets pointing up…. I just roll it under the van every time I wash my van at the shop…

I'm surprised more don't put a hatch
