Just finished putting together my back up van. 2005 Chevy Astro with a refurbished Steamway mastermatic. N0 more kerosene, just a little lg propane heater. Gets me up to 200 degrees. Still have room for my portable and a few extras. Let's me get into smaller underground parkades for portable work and still performs well with up to 200 ft of hose. Thanks to Marek, my master fabricator neighbor who made all the brackets and fabricated the bolts.

Yeah, I get about 450 kilometers to a full tank, about $70.00. It's the second one i've owned but the first i've ever put a tm in. 2003-2005 they put larger wheels and brakes. It's a little smaller than my Volkswagen but it carries a decent load. The cleaning works great for a small unit. I'm pulling 15 inches at 3000 rpm. Probably 200-250 cfm. Feels stronger than that but that's what the specs say.

for now, you know I have another one next door, just waiting on the heater to be refurbished. I know a guy that has another Astro van for $1000.00. supposed to be a 2004. Soon, I'll be the King of second hand truckmounts. You'll see me on the street corner saying, "wanna buy a used mastermatic". What about you Willy? Need a good little TM? Cheap?

Just working out the bugs today, Vacuum is incredible for 3ll blower. Used it to clean a rug in the shop, was just about dry after 2 hours. I have a guy coming down to look at it tomorrow. If it sells, I can start my next project.

Before my 2003 I had a 2000 that had more than 400k on it. when it gave up the ghost. Engine was still good. But it was haunted , electronically. I think that maybe the computer which is mounted on the firewall gets too much moisture. And I am no mechanic. When it snowed hard, and I was driving it would shut down!!!l;lol

Golleee Ron, a 2004 for 1000.00? No good deals like that around here. I started looking since mine got stolen yesterday.

I haven't seen it yet but if it is reasonable shape, I'll put my other mastermatic in it. I am still in the process of redoing it. I'm trying to salvage the kero heater. This one is steamway's omega unit. The difference from the old style ones is it has a pump clutch and a 42 amp alternator, which will keep the burner lit better than the old style. The guy with van owes me some favors so I'm not sure if the $1000 is my price or just what it's worth.

Interesting.. Wonder what specifically he is going to use it for, it's not made to pump water..

Are the heat exchangers Hydramaster also?

The heat exchangers are Hydramaster. about 15 years old at least. I better test them for leaks before I sell them. The guy is going to use the vacuum to lift and sort soil somehow. I explained to him that nothing can pass through the blower without doing damage but he seems to know what he is doing. He was looking specifically for a roots blower. I've seen the show "Bering Sea Gold" where they are on barges in the salt chuk and they are sucking water and soil from the bottom of the ocean. Might be something similar. He was pretty close mouthed. Like he didn't want anybody to know.

checked out the van for $1000.00. not bad for a thousand bucks but it needs new tires, brakes and a few other misc. things. It has a few dings on it. Just not the appearance I am looking for. It has 251,000 kilometers on it. I think I'll stick to my original idea and sell the unit I have just refurbished and buy a nicer astro van and put the other unit it that. Anyone wants a used astro van, in US dollars it's about $700.00'
