it takes a true leader to be orginal, one that thinks of great ideas and implements them in his/her business in a steady, consistant way,,,, I know not to reinvent the wheel, but we must be able to make our company a stand out. our company from the next carpet cleaner,,,, what makes you a true leader and not a copy cat?????

I second Mr. Boyle......there truly is only so much you can do to be different from everyone else. You bring your own personality and build relationships based on that.
Just out of curiosity, what do you do that is original? And don't worry we won't copy..;)

great question, I am glad, you ask,,, one area I have added to my business is dryer vent cleaning with 2 two stage compressor and all the bells and whistles that go with that. every customer has a dryer vent that needs to be serviced, use the opportunity while you are there cleaning carpets to give a free visual inspection of their dryer vent.... one stop shop... more income per truck,,

I think there are a number of things if you competitors just setup, pretreat if your lucky.

Load the soap in the machine and clean like a mad man.

Maybe move a little furniture and block and chip, It's not hard to stand out against that status quo.

Pre vacuum that's a thing most guys don't do. Use a form of agitation and pretreat.
Rinsing is so much easier if the other steps are done first.

Use a seal a door, drop fans, hand out shoe covers, if your real anal drop air scrubbers.

I think it is less about being original and more about being a leader. Nothing wrong with copying and making or morphing what has worked for others, work for you.

Leaders have an innate desire to succeed. They don't everything right but they don't give up. They adjust and overcome obstacles in their path to success.

If you want to succeed, you'll have to be willing to do whatever it takes. It's not going to be easy and there are no secrets. It takes hard work and a relentless desire to be the best at everything you do. That unfortunately still isn't enough.

You have to instill that same desire to be the best in your employees. Cultivate that until you build a culture within your company that drives out those that are not willing to put forth the effort.

i am a copy cat, i try to copy the best i see in successful people and never think i know everything while trying to learn something everyday.

if i was original or an innovator i would not be cleaning carpet. just saying.

as for being a leader, try always to do the best you can do (because if you did the best there was really nothing else that could of been done) while improving how and or why to be the most efficient.

but i am a janitor so take this lightly.
