Time to fall behind Saturday night. Been looking, without success, for my Black Diamond headlamp that I've had for a few years. It's non-rechargable and battery changeout is kind of a pain. I have a couple Fenix flashlights that have held up well for a few years. Been looking at the Fenix headlamps. A friend said he likes his Olight. The $45 1000 lumin rechargable Coast might be a decent cheapie.

Anybody know anything about headlamps?

Which features are important?

Fenix is my choice aswell. I know there are better on the market, but how much functionality do you need from a head torch?

what are you using them for?
Cave exploring/shaft mining or work tasks around the home/shop or TM?
if the latter, I have several of the cheapies ($15-$20 dollar range)
... they all work fine for me

I'm personally not a big fan of rechargeable flash lights.
If need be, I can find batteries at any gas station .
Not so when a rechargeable dies

unless cave spelunking, you don't need big lumem either.
100 lumen is more than enough for arm's length tasks.
Too much lumen, and reflection from shinny stuff like stainless can blind you...

I've used mine most for wrapping up a job after dark.

I am not sure of the brand, but I use one all the time at home. It's nice working on projects and can get that light right on the area you are working on. Especially helpful as my eyes age.

I agree with Larry though that battery powered vs rechargeable is the way to go. Even though I use it all the time, it may at times be months between using it and if the charge is low, I can throw a couple of new batteries in it.
