Over the last 5 years or so I noticed that black rubber when left in contact with nylon turns it a rusty reddish color. The first time I saw it was on drum feet. I have also seen it from weights, canes and a stool. I haven't found anything that would even lighten it. Anybody else seeing this problem? Some of the carpets had been cleaned but others had not.

what type of rubber????

because TIRES, LEECH out into what ever they are touching...vct floors...the rugs they put them on...etc

There is something in the rubber that transfers part of its self....i would imagine its the same....and i dont think you can get it out...

when waxing floors, IF they strip it once a year, the new stuff is only on the finish, so it comes off....if they go much longer, itll seep into the floor, and then they are SOL...

so thats my guess

didn't start seeing them until about five years ago and rubber has been around a long time. the spots it leaves look like a chemical reaction more then a color transfer. i blame everything on cheap chinese goods.

if nobody else is seeing it them maybe high humidity is a contributing factor.
