Blower belts, how long can I run with only one?

Had one of the two blower belts fail on the tm(370). Knew I was screwed when I saw a chunk of the rubber gears on my dash yesterday, just flew out.

Needed to use the tm today, seemed to work fine(didn't blow up). No new belts til tomorrow, apparently.

So, am I screwing things up more running the blower with only one belt? Hoping to get through two more jobs, til I can tackle this.

How hard is it to change belts? According to the directions, slide the blower back, tilt the front down and install? lol, if only it were that easy...

The problem is if that belt is so bad, you know the other one is too. Probably gonna break halfway through your next job

The right belts, aligned correctly, last for years. Usually one bad belt will take out the otber.

I live in a tiny West Kentucky town and can get all my belts at 3 places locally same day.

You probably can too

I've got 5 years on the belts on my AT PTO. I am changing them out next week however. As long as the tension is just barely tight enough to not slip they will last for years.

But once 1 goes they all go, don't limp around just change it. I always have a spare set and can change them on the job in 15 minutes.

you won't hurt anything if that's what you're asking

turn the vac relief down (less HG) so there's not as much load on the blower
That might get you thru the day

how hard?
never looked inside a 370

no clue if a tight space knucklebuster or not
If you have more than a screw driver, hammer and vise grips for tools, it's not beyond an average jamoke

And you know not to replace just one belt, right?
always replace both as a set

It might actually be THAT easy...

The Butler is. No tools, 5 minutes, all 3 in the Butler System.

I also watched Saiger swap the 2 under my hood in an additional 5 minutes!

I bet they make it easy on the 370 too.

You might make it through the day but now that one belt will be slipping even more and will deteriorate even quicker.

Yea, you would think. None of the larger stores had them, Napa, Grainger, etc. Hopefully the disty delivers tomorrow.

Hey Lee! People in the area starting to get eclipse fever? My 70+ yr old father in law is going back to Carbondale(SIU) to watch.

Check a local industrial supply. Bearing shop.

I get all my belts at a hole in the wall.

Even blower bearings and seals.

When the belts go, it's time to change your truck mount.

Not really...I just like threads when a new truck mount is purchased. It looks cool when a new video is made

Jimmy runs a gates greenline K061195HD. It only has ONE belt and that one is a LONG ONE!
No wonder they don't make the quad 56 anymore. Someone told me the sapphire pto has the same problem but it has been hushed hushed behind the scenes.

Yeah replace all the belts at the same time for peace of mind.
Order two sets.

They are/were. Both my trucks threw the idler pulley out from under the hood, the second one with 30 hours on the machine. First it was a pulley issue, then a belt issue, they upgraded both of mine and they seem to be ok now

Almost 2 years now. They're awesome performing machines but I think they tried to squeeze too much out of the clutch

I had an 90 Butler back when Butler let distributors do the install that threw serpentine belts regularly. I also had an 87 Butler from a different distributor that never had belt issues.
