Glenn;

First thing to do is to clean the interior of the blower.

We use our Dynachem POG to clean any residue from the blower interior.

After spraying the POG throughout the interior,

I would use a prespray to do a final flush.

Rinse with hot water and check if it turns freely.

If it still is binding, I would replace the driven shaft bearing and seal.

Depending on the nature of the "drag", I'd agree that there is trash in it. When enough gets into the blower cavity so that "grit" gets between the endplates and rotors it won't spin free.

Should be NO metal to metal contact inside the blower, and no drag from bearings either. Just slight inertia to start its motion.
