WOW!
chemical damage all over a low end tan poly.
More color in it than a Bob Ross sunset!!! Purples/ pinks, all swirled around like a cloud filled sky!!!:smile:

And these are supposed to stand up to chemicals????????

I see it quite often, but this was over the top.

Could not tell; some kind of chemical. Did not smell like bleach.
There was a slight smell, but not terrible. I wish I knew what they use to do this. I see it quite often.
Purplish pinkish. almost irridescent.

Almost new carpet , in good condition otherwise.
Low end apt. of course.

I get so many renter move outs where they tried to clean the carpet themselves with a rug doctor mixed with bleach. I just had one two days ago. What are people thinking?

Something stripped all the dyes but the reds.

Unless you can color dye it, it's trash.

Toilet bowl cleaner is a big culprit.

Ok snap a foto for us dodo’s
I am the do do!! LOL! took a few pics, but have never posted a pic. Don't know how!!!!
Damage is widespread in the place.and very severe.. That is the whole point. I do color repair, but this is poly and not dyeable. AND the major point, is that is supposed to stand up to chems.
In this unit, even if it were nylon, and possible to correct, there is way tooooooo ;much to be cost effective on the low end stuff.

I have even resorted to CTIs color cosmetics in the past , just to see if I could improve this type of damage on the polys and olefins.
Usually as a learning thing. NOT worth the effort!

I rather pre-vac!!!!!LOL:winky::winky:

Unfortunately the pics don't come close to showing the severity of the damage.

That's from spot cleaning and the spotter being left in the carpet. Sometimes the color doesn't come out till you clean it.

My guess anyway. I see it a lot too.

Well the thing is these polys are solution dyed. They are not supposed to do this. And this was not just a little spot., but massive damage over several large areas.
Shoot I have even explored using a red dye remove on them in the past. Because of the brightness, and often much more noticable in sunlight, I thought just maybe, they had cleaned with a cheap cleaner with optical brighteners in it. Hmmm now that I think of it , laundry soap?
I did not know if the optical brightener could be removed that way. I had been told it was some kind of dye. But, just so you know , it did not do anything.

Every time I see discoloration. On these it’s the same purplish color.
