I am looking into changing over to a box truck. (Photo of model attached)

I need more room from the demand of the variety of services that require multiple large sized tools. Also, I operate a standard 1500 Express.

So what I would like to know is what are the things that you learned after the purchase that you didn't expect prior to the purchase.

What's good, what's bad. What should I be prepared to need to change is the day to day riggers of cleaning?

What about keeping the box warm during a NC winter?

Thanks

easy to insulate and easy to heat. lots or room, even then you'll run out of room soon enough. The truck you show in the picture doesnt have the wieght limits and handling that the cab over chassis do. That being said, my handles like a box with some wheels on it. Not very comfy if you drive a lot.

I really like mine. Lots of room and a rolling billboard. It has a different maintence schedule than a van, a bit more. If you have low clearance or parking problems it will make it more challenging. Longer is better so just like a van I like the long bed. Watch the weight limit, things add up quick. Make sure it will carry what you want legal. Bigger tends to make you load heavy.

I was told the insurance is a more compared to a van. Looks like a nice ride. No waste tank stench after the nasty pet job.

Are you going to be OK backing into tight driveways and not being able to see whats behind you? I guess you can get a back-up camera but I know guys have complained about tight driveways and scratches on the sides.

That's the good thing about the van @Bucey posted... It has the same width of the van, just taller.... I was also looking into the same type of van... They only come in single rear wheel... The Dually's are the wider ones with more clearance problems in tight areas....

Where are you planning on installing the truck mount? For the best storage, I'd recommend installing a side door and putting the unit up towards the cab of the truck. If you need help with the door, give us a call. We'd be happy to help with what dimensions we've seen work best and where to put it.

some you can get a aux heater for the box thats tied into the heater core system so i can heat your box up, or keep it warm when your driving from job to job.

I posted old ear and new when I asked advice in wraps while back
There a vid on my website that shows it pulling in cust driveway

Other than the paint peeling on hood, Chevy flaw, you can tell me apart

OP, I would go for the first one posted, has lower skirt. Lower center of gravity, lower deck ( with wheel wells)

How about the Isuzu option. I'm thinking some visit to test drive a few different models is definitely in order.

We still have three of them but I quit buying them. I like how easy they corner and park but that bouncing gets old. The last two Spartan's are Chevy. I thought about a Transit just for an updated look but I changed my mind. The next one I buy will be a Chevy to match the other two.

I had a box van I used for water damage a while back.
Great for storage and drying equipment.
Didn't like it for carpet cleaning as it was higher to climb in and out of ( maybe a foot higher)
Also not easy to back up into driveways, thus longer hose runs....not good.
If you use it only for carpet cleaning and you can't always back it up.....
You are taking extra tools.roatary.....it will be a pain overtime....
Closer the better. IMO.

We moved from the Isuzu's to the Chevy's just because the Isuzu's are such rock shakers. Its ok if its just an occasional driver but as an everyday driver its gets old.

I'm still looking for a nut that bounced out. :winky:
Bunch of women. I drove an Isuzu 2500 miles back from Wisconsin. An adventure for sure. Saved a butt load of money. It's our 4th cab over. Love the tight turn radius.
