Carpet Spot Dyeing

I never see much regarding carpet spot dyeing, or even full room dyeing for that matter.

Nor dye rectification for Oriental rugs.

Seems that many have pulled their socks up & are now remaining close lipped about this add-on, or indeed, even a separate business.

Do many here still attempt it, or do it?

Personally, I've been ripped of twice by two male charlatan instructors in the carpet dyeing industry.

Sure leaves a sour taste in the mouth.

I took some courses years ago but don't have the eye for the color or the patience. Its a great skill to have but not for me.

I do it often. It's a decent little ad-on. I do so much Rental brown nylon I keep a squirt bottle with brown dye in my van ready to go. I don't think people talk about it much because Chris Howell and his x rated videos he sends to women may have ruined the purity of dyeing.

I have not done any in quite some time. Used to do tons. Not seeing much nylon in the rentals here. Most of the chemical damage I see is on poly, and olefins. Yeah, the stuff that is not supposed to do that!!! LOL! purplish , irridescent damage.
Long a go iven attempet to put some color back ON those with RIT, and CTI Color Cosmetics, just to see if I could improve them at all. NOPE!! Permanent markers as well.

Just the other day , first time in a while had chemical damage on brown nylon. Sadly, not just a spot or two or three, or four--------- So much that they replaced instead of having me blend.

On-location work on installed carpet hasn't worked for us. Customers won't pay for the time involved, so it ends up being low-pay, high dissatisfaction work, particularly if an insert is a faster and more customer satisfying option. I'm not sure there's anyone offering spot or full room dyeing here; not even Rainbow.

Oriental rug color repair is a different story. Higher value rugs allow higher repair prices and work done in your shop is done on your schedule.
