I ran into a little service request, clean some hall runners and a hardwood stair runner, she wanted me to take the carpet off, clean it and return later. The thing was afixed pretty good! Not sure thinking it was glued ? How is this usually installed? Can I remove this? Am I better off just cleaning this in place ?

yeah, DO NOT take it off unless you or your best friend have been installing carpet for years.

That's what I was thinking, I left and will come back at a later time.
There are a few rooms, I told them I hate to do half a job, just do the upstairs as well :/

We will If it will survive a a tear off and reinstall but it is bucko bucko bucks and often I have to repair it before I can reinstall it. But it is the advantage of being both a seasoned installer, rug snob and cleaner.

I think they wanted to refinish the wood and was hoping to get the carpet removed free with the cleaning,
