Cat smelly rug

Someone dropped off a 5 x 8 area rug and it cleaned up very well, (not wool).
But if I put my nose up to the back side it still smells of urine

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have had good luck by mixing up buckets of Odorcide and completely saturating the rug, then roll it up and leave it 24 hours or more, then rinse. If it's not a natural fiber you can knock out the majority of the smell.

What type of rug! Olefin.. nylon... polyester.. tufted.. woven..??
