I have a 4 by 8 area rug maybe 6.0 nylon (this is wall to wall carpet with a bound edge, not jute backing but maybe not Action back. I would like to spray the back FIRST with Hydrocide (B.P.) an then Extract with warm water and a hole glide. Allow to dry and then Clean top. Will this or is there a chance this process would de-laminate the backing? Any other suggestions? The rug smells not totally disgusting. CB

I would spray both sides heavily and let it sit awhile, then clean both sides and hang to dry. One soaking shouldn't de-laminate unless it is a cheap piece of goods and if it is why bother, just replace.

There is nothing in that process that should delaminate the backing unless the backing was very poor quality or defective.
