Cimex problem - Only rotates 1 direction

I picked up a used R76 that will only rotate 1 direction. It just makes a hum when you turn it on for right rotation. I've lifted it off the ground and it wont move at all. The other direction is strong. I was able to run it with a 40lb weight.

What's wrong?
Am I hurting the motor running it like this?

Man that a huge beast! Are you using it on floors or carpet?

With it off can you turn the heads to the right or is it locked up?

Using it on carpet. Today it's hall racing 2 19's in a huge old folks home.

It rotates easily in both directions by hand. It won't rotate counter clockwise even off the ground. Just a hum.

Sounds like a bad switch. You can run it the way it is without damaging the motor.

the humming noise should indicate it is getting power to the motor....off the top of my head I would check the start compactor....more then likely it is a reversible type.....
