Does anyone have experience with these units? I'm interested in a direct drive and have found a pretty clean looking unit with @ 1500 hours (Compact 47). I'm kind of fixed on Butler because I will be doing most of the work on the van. I'm 2.5 hours from closest service (Interlink). Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks guys. I'm not really hung up on that. Not sure if I'd use it anyway. I'm more interested to hear about reliability, ease of maintenance, etc. It looks like they have been around for quite a while. Closest service is in KC, 3.5 hours away.

Ken, you and Taco run crews. They don't care if their tools are stolen or the van gets flooded in a blinding rain storm. Mark Saiger runs his Butlers with the doors shut often. If I had to capability, I would do so as well.

Cleanco is a solid unit, which is why Prochem buys them instead of building their own.

We love the hose pass-through on our HydraMaster CDS trucks. Not only does it keep light-fingered competitors from stealing stuff, it reduces the noise level enough that we don't worry about cleaning in areas that have noise ordinances.

We have had a cleanco in our past. Just wasn't as good as all the Butlers we have had. I think the last one we had was a 1983 though. As far as using the port holes, I use them a lot so the sides of our vans ndon't get all rashed up and lose paint or vinyl wrap. We also use them a lot because of our harsh cold winters or for security reasons.

Thanks Guys. I liked what I was hearing and the seller and I came to terms on his 2010 Cleanco compact 47 in an '09 Ford E250. If I decide I need a Butler style trap door, I bet I could install one without too much trouble. Thanks for the help!

May be you can, may be you can't. The way the Cleanco waste tank ports are mounted, it might be a bit difficult to do. They are way up high on the tank, near the roof of the van.

You might could bust out the glass in the doors and make it work.

Yes, I will definitely break out the glass immediately in my new van ;-)

Are you guys talking about that little hole in the side of the door? lol

I don't know how the Hagopian guys deal with the 10 degree and below days we get in Michigan, but I definitely use that security access door when it's that cold. Stuff freezes back there. That's one of the great features a DD system has over a slide-in unit. With a slide in you have to leave those doors open. That could well be why DD units are more popular in the north (aside from the fact that Cleanco and Butler and White Magic originated in the Polar region of North America.

With a whip for your connection you should be able to do as Lee said, mount it anywhere if it won't work on the step.

From the side door on the left hand side is usually an awkward spot with little use. Put Bryan's port hole in the floor there. Connect to the machine and drop the whip through the port hole and connect your hoses.

Butlers are not friendly to the OCD owners (like me) that likes to carry a lot of chemicals and equipment so he can tackle every situation under the sun. Not enough available storage space. (Butler, are you listening?) Yes, it is true that I hardly ever use all that extra stuff and yes, it all collects dust in the back of the van. Though it gives me a fuzzy warm sense of security and professionalism :winky:.

In the CDS we cut a hole in the floor with the same door Richard showed (I am sure Bryan's idea is just as good. Working with closed doors keeps the equipment and rugs we carry, safe and reduces noise substantially. Cant figure out why one wouldn't use it if they have it.
