cologne in a carpet??? best flushing solvent

i had a job today where a house cleaner broke a bottle of cologne on top of some berber carpet.the homeowner is a real pain ---said the odor from the spill gave him an asthma attack. used an acid rinse to flush it--worked ok-- tried some acetone--a little better---finally oil flo--- that seemed to get it--- heavy flush between steps with water claw to keep the carpet dry as possible. took me a hour to work on a 2 foot square section. anyone have a quicker solution??

I would have tried alcohol first. It would take quite a bit, but it is cheap.
