  • I offer it. Not much demand.
  • Reasonably good at it. Though to get it close to perfect, with all the small color intensity increments, is very time consuming. Therefore, I price it by the hour. Once my clients realize the $$$ difference they will pay between decent and close to perfect results, they always opt for decent.
  • I actually enjoyed the class.

Practice regularly on different color/types of carpet.

QUESTION: Does one need heat to permanently set the dye stuff with this kit ??

I looked at these recently.I was curious if they are somewhat permanent or not.

Does it come with a color matching guide for morons?

I played around a few a couple of weeks ago. I have done a couple of spots here and there, but by no means would call it an income source. These were nice and easy because they were white and not yellow. They were caused from an "oxy" cleaner by the homeowner. I did these three, plus 2 more in another area.

I have never cleaned over one of these, maybe should do some on a sample and clean them to see what happens.

It was pretty easy. I played around with these and other dyes at Summerfest last year with Tom C. It was fun to see the reaction of the homeowner as they were disappearing. :headbang:

Hey Shorty,
You don't need heat for the CMC's. Once the solvents evaporate completely the CMC's are considered semi-permanent, they can be removed but it takes some aggressive work with a solvent to so it.

Hey Shorty,
Okay, because it's a coating and not a penetrating dye they can be used on pretty much any fiber. Fiber integrity is more the defining issue. You can see from the video that even with the solvent breaking the colors down you are still getting fairly aggressive with with the fibers so it's more a matter of what the fiber will take. If the backing is already weakened or the fibers are falling apart you can tell it's not going to stand up any kind of aggressive treatment.

Todd,

On color loss due to bleach, must you neutralize the bleach?

We use liquid dye - and it is a must.

Thx!
