This is how I roll.

Competition is an example of separation. First, when you have thoughts of competition, it is coming from lack of mentality, as you are saying there is a limited supply.
You are saying there is not enough for everybody, so we have to compete and fight to get things.
When you compete you can never win, even if you think you won. By the law of attraction, as you compete you will attract many people and circumstances to compete against you in every single aspect of your life, and in the end you will lose.
We are all One, and so when you compete, you compete against You. You have to get competition out of your mind, and become a creative mind. Focus only on YOUR dreams, YOUR visions, and take all competition out of the equation.

I don't have competition any more. I have some good cleaners that I can refer when I'm booked, buddies in the biz, and some good budget cleaners I can refer when my price is too high.
Then there are those that I just don't refer.

I would say that's true except for the yahoos that deliberately talk down their competitor's business' to their customers.

I make it a point to speak well of other cleaners. "There are some really good cleaners out there". I let them know that the industry has really shaped up over the last few years.
You would be surprised at how custy's love the honesty.

We all know that that is true only part of the time but it's always a good idea to compliment your industry.

I do the same thing all the time. Remember, what goes around, comes around.

People you meet on the way up are the same you'll meet on the way down.

I agree with Baldy 100% on that one too

is that what you were trying to say, Robinson?

I believe that as well but what I was trying to say is
If you worry about the competition and try to "beat" them...you will be worse off because you will lose the focus of your own business.
I suppose that is beating yourself also.

If we can all focus on winning with no losers...then we all win.

What the f are you guys talking about. Are we not competing with the other guys with our yellow page ads and the rest of our marketing? Are we not trying to tell the customer that we are better than them. I don't know about some of you but I try to do a better job than most. Maybe you guys that haven't worked for a big franchise or cleaned behind other cleaners you may not be aware of how some guys clean. All my advertising says I'm better than the other guys. That's what I want people to realize when they open the yellow pages. I've got more education than my competition, I have this board to learn from, I have some of the best equipment and chems. Those other yellow page ads are your competition for each new customer. Except for referrals and past customers. Don't you think every job that the other guy does is a job you could of had? I hate losing out to the marketing giants. I really hate seeing SS in my hood. Same with our suppliers, every jug we use of someone elses juice is a few dollars they could have made.

Did I tell you that I hate mimes?

They are the ones who lurk in the shadows and mock you.

Competition is good. Lowlifes or not, they keep me on my toes. Without competition I seem to get too comfortable. I feel that if I fall into a comfort zone my customers won't get the best that they can get and my biz could suffer.
