If you are cleaning and find out that after you clean a dark stain, you find out that it is a red stain under all the darkness.

Now that you have cleaned it and the red remains, did you just make getting the red out tougher or impossible?

you never know until you try.-- use CTI's "Red 1" OR Masterblend's "Magic"

If you couldn't see the color before you cleaned it, there was sugar, grease and "GKW" on it, and you could have ended up causing some carmelization of the sugar and made it harder it to remove.

While the diluting factor of the carpet having been wet is an issue, I think you were better for having cleaned it.

Move forward with your usual red dye removal process, but warn your customer that if any of the soil attracting residues included consumer spotting agents, that removal may not be complete

An attempt is needed to remove it. But it's just an attempt, not a guarantee. I've learned over the years, that with very hot water slowly going over it...it can sometimes lock the stain in or on the fiber, depending on how many times you went over it to rinse out the caramelization.

But it'll never hurt to attempt to remove it.
